It's not a Stearman but...

Look what I found today. A Kaiser Jeep M715 1&1/4 ton truck.

And the owner wants to sell it at a fair price. Body is flawless (for a truck built in 1967) and it started right up. I drove it for a bit. No brakes, but that's a simple fix on these old war horses. Got a firefighting pump and tank in that back. On skids and slides right out. Get that out and paint it in period colors again and she'll shine.

I once had a 67 3/4 ton Kaiser Jeep PU. That thing would climb trees, cross rivers, and retrieve lesser 4x4s (such as 3/4 ton 1980 Dodges) from deep arroyos. Trouble is, it got 2 mpg off road. A 40 mile range can get you in deep trouble wandering the Sonoran desert. But I did like that truck ...

    1. I was just driving back from Winchester and there it was, sitting up next to a garage behind a bar. I u-turned and went back and inquired.

But old army trucks are the best I can do. I really want an old Mustang but it seems that some guy in North Carolina found all those already.

    1. Oh dang. You want a real K code? I gave up a long time ago on finding real ones. I will put the usual bounty out to see if someone runs across one. The problem with my Mustang hobby is I can no longer afford it. 30 years ago? No problem.

    1. Possibly. I can deal with the price. I just want to look it over more thoroughly and the owner has to find a title for it. Apparently he never got one from the person that he bought it from.

  7. Nice! I'm eating my heart out now. No GPS, no computer chips, no gummint monitoring ...

    Well done!

    1. No electronic ignition. EMP = no factor.

    2. No brakes! I guess that means that if the gummint (the Rev's words) gets in the way, you just run over 'em. Sorry about that, Mr G'Man, sir, I tried to stop, but.....
