I've been under the weather for a few days, and I'm still trying to shake this bug off, but it didn't stop me from going out yesterday and moving quite a lot of rock, bricks and dirt around the dog pen, with the result that Miss Belle hasn't been out since. Fingers crossed here, but I think I've got her...at least until the next time.
To treat the dogs though, since the day was so nice, I took them to the dog park for a while so they could run all of their energy off. Now we're home and they're both asleep someplace. Only downside to the day: I didn't realize how naive Belle was about power windows, and I rather absent-mindedly rolled both my vehicle's back windows up when we got home. Murphy's an old hand (old paw?) and he got clear as expected, but Belle? Well I've seen a few German Shepherds' ears get caught in the power windows over the years, but this was the first time I ever saw one get her whole head caught. And as is typical for Belle, as soon as I reversed it and she got clear, she looked at me with that sad look as if she'd done something wrong. Sorry, Belle!
Don't know if you have this trouble, but I have to lock the windows to keep Chloe from adjusting them in transit. Hope Belle learns your system. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteSo far it's been my experience with German Shepherds that one go-round with the power window is all if takes to instill in them a healthy respect for the sound of the electric motor. Hopefully Belle is a quick study.
DeleteShe won't do that again... Quick learners they are!

ReplyDeleteHeh. Mysti has a tendency to roll down the windows. We can't seem to train her how to roll them back up, and that can be a problem when it rains.
ReplyDeleteDid that to my at the time future son-in-law about 25 years ago. We still get along good.
