Geez...where's the love?

OK, mea culpa, mea culpa...beans aren't supposed to go in chili. (Then why do they call them "chili beans"?) The internet has spoken. Next time I'll leave them out.

But I did add half a can of Coors, so that at least should get me something from the Texans, right?

  1. I will be happy to send you a real Texican chili receipe, WITH NO BEANS, and yes, what Randy said, and yes, please try to work in the Terlingua chili cookoff, would love to see you and the dogs there, as well as some of the folks watching this blog. But please...no beans.
You might want to pick up the book 'A BOWL OF RED', for some background on chili.

  2. Yes, we forgive you. The beer is a welcome ingredient. Now please, ignore the comment on the original post from that Eskimo from Alaska. I mean really, what does a frozen popsicle from the Arctic Circle know about Chili?? Now I will concede they know all about Polar Bear Nachos.

Plus, the uncalled for comment relating to the size of Texas. If we melted all the ice up there, Alaska would be the size of Rhode Island.

Texans fully understand the jealousy and feelings of inadequacy from residents of the other 49 states.......that's why we treat y'all with such consideration and kindness.

  3. Well.....It's kinda like beer. A Shiner Bock would have been a better option IMHO.

    3. Nope, nope. Paricuallarly since I wrote that while drinking an amazing cast conditioned oatmeal stout.

On the other hand, I'd take Shiner Bock over Imperial easily.

    5. I was going to suggest Shiner's Birthday Beer, but I thought that might be a little too fou-fou for the post. A very nice Chocolate Stout, just the right touch of chocolate with a little bitter up front and a nice sweet finish. It's a seasonal beer, so limited time and I'm not sure where it's distributed.

Best damn chili fixins you can buy pre-made.

And even through I don't drink, I always dump a can or two beer in my chili pot!
