In Alabama the other day, and what do I see on the I-10?
Someone got a cool new toy!
Also can't help think about how handy that would be in New Orleans when the wheels finally fall off due to Mitch Landrieu's stunning managerial incompetence and the race-baiting that he uses to distract people from it. Plus it's also just about one of the few vehicles that can drive on city streets that have been so neglected as back-to-back Democrat administrations have siphoned off money meant to fix them and spent it on other things near and dear to them and their coterie of friends alone.
But mark my words...let enough Democrats run enough of America for too long and we WILL likely be seeing tanks in our streets.
Appears to be Russian in origin. T-72? (Hard to tell with that tarp.)
ReplyDeleteI'd say it is mostly likely a T-72, but my ID of tanks by road wheels is rusty, so it could be a 64.
ReplyDeleteI'd be curious where it was; the military owns a surprising number of T-72's and moves them around a bit for testing, demonstrations, etc and it could be one of theirs.
W/B I-10, west of Mobile.
DeleteCould have come from Eglin AFB and be going to White Sands. From there it likely wasn't going to Huntsville/ Redstone Arsenal
DeleteWell, if it's a 64, it'll run on damn near anything, which is about what you get at the gas stations in NOLA... sigh
ReplyDeleteHey Murphy;
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a T72 ;) You can get them fairly cheap...as far as tanks go. It probably is related to the Army especially since they have an arsenal in Anniston. I hope you enjoy the trip through the state.
It would make a nice Big Boy Toy
ReplyDeleteIf you get a few of your buddies beered-up and everyone starts daring, you know one of them will light the burners on that T-72 and drive it down Bourbon Street at dusk.
ReplyDeleteGive me an even chance of getting away with it and I'll do it.
DeleteInteresting rig. Looks new. 9 weight bearing axles, including 3 on the tractor. Wonder if all 3 are driven, or one is just a tag axle?
ReplyDeleteThat tank could weigh up to 49 tons, apparently. Hmm, that would seem to suggest that that rig is capable of handling much more weight.
Concur with the others. It looks to me like a Soviet design, but with the tarp, it's hard to nail it down. Probably one of the old, captured T-72s. But, it's been a long time since I was in the Armor recognition business.
