For the last couple of months, I've been carrying my Walther PPK as a pocket carry gun when I went out and about. I like the Walther and it's served me well, but the other day, I took it out at the range to demonstrate it to a friend of mine and suddenly it was stoppage after stoppage.
That won't do for a carry gun, especially in this city. So a replacement was ordered and it arrived today.
I honestly cannot remember the last time I bought a factory new gun still in the box. But with the rebate S&W is offering until the end of the month, I couldn't not. They were practically giving them away.
It's so pretty in all it's wrappings.
But it looks even better unwrapped.
Tomorrow it gets taken to the range for a test run.
Mopes and creepers beware. I've just upgraded my fangs.
Congrats. New guns are fun. It's a great concealment gun. Shoots durn nice for being so small too.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
I have not had the best of luck with S&W autos and anxiously await your review.
ReplyDeleteI hope it works well for you; we just purchased an M&P 9 Shield, and will be visiting the range soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to your 642?
ReplyDeleteI still have it and love it. Just felt the need for something else.
DeleteIf you like the Shield as much as I liked the M&P, you're going to like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteOh I do...
DeleteJust get a Glock.... it works 'every time'. Glock 26, 43... I use them daily for CCW. Never looked back (but then I used Glocks in IPSC and IDPA for at least 20 years, once I retired my Browning High Power from the matches.
ReplyDeleteI have Glocks. Currently a 19 a 21 and a 23. This Shield is half the size of the 21.
DeleteWe really like the ones we have. The shape and texture of the grip were more to our liking than any of the others we tried. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwpVAgN4BGE
ReplyDeleteHey Murphy;
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if things were ok, there have been some news of some people getting rolled in the French Quarter by a quartet of *Dindu Nuffin*, and wondered if you were affected. Let us know how the shield works. I will try a range tomorrow, I have some old school revolvers that have been whimpering for a run.
Those four hit one pair of tourists and all have since been arrested. But yes, that story was a factor in this purchasing decision. That was in an area where I regularly am.
DeleteI love my 1911s, but this one holds the same number of rounds and it's much more concealable.
ReplyDeleteI picked up on a thumb safety one on a trade. It was a good piece. Didn't love the safety but otherwise it was as reliable a piece of hardware as you could hope for. Which is what you want your carry piece to be.
