Seven Reasons To Go See American Sniper.

Even if something's wrong with you and you're not a fan of Chris Kyle, Navy SEALs, the U.S. Military, Clint Eastwood or America, there are still seven great reasons to go to the theater and plunk down your money to watch American Sniper.

Michael Moore hates it. (Well Duh. If it's pro-America, America's fattest hypocrite anti-capitalist millionaire is gonna hate it. But still..)

Seth Rogen hates it. (As if a guy who is only famous for playing sexually-frustrated potheads in cheesy movies really counts...)

Alec Baldwin hates it. (Actually I suspect that he just chimed in to get another fifteen minutes of fame, lest we all forget who this annoying elitist is.)

Bill Maher hates it. (I guess he's trying to show us that he's got more to say than just calling Sarah Palin the "C word".)

Russell Brand hates it. (Can anyone even tell me who this faggy Brit that looks like he gets his mail sent to a dumpster is?)

MSNBC hates it. (Not really surprising. MSNBC makes Al Jazeera look like Stars and Stripes.)

Jesse Ventura hates it. (Why? Because Chris Kyle kicked his America-hating ass, that's why!)

I plan to see it this week-end, but frankly, if that many top-tier gold-plated douchebags hate something, I can't help but like it, even sight unseen. Granted, I'm sure that much of their loathing comes from the fact that none of them can walk by a mirror without seeing the guy who is too much of a pansy to ever do the things that Kyle did, and that's got to sting.

Students told to quit being patriotic at school game.

Yep. In California. (Where else?)

High school kids were told to remove American flag-themed bandanas and stop chanting "USA, USA!" because school administrators felt that it might offend other students there. The students in question were briefly suspended for this behavior but then the school administrators realized what they'd done (probably after consultation with an attorney who'd read the First Amendment) and vacated the suspensions.

The school has a large hispanic student body. The administrators felt that hearing other students cheering for America might offend some of them.

Patriotic chanting and attire sparks suspensions and racism claims.

OK, so if the "hispanic" students are here--in America--is it not because they are either Americans themselves or wish to be? If if neither of those apply, isn't their presence here an admission by them and their parents that America is actually superior to wherever it is that they came here from? Otherwise they'd still be back there, right?

So if the "hispanic" students are American, by birth or naturalization, they can't be offended because they're part of the USA just like everyone else. They should be joining in those cheers and some probably were. And if the "hispanic" students are here illegally or still consider themselves to be Mexicans, Salvadorans or whatever, then who the hell cares if they're offended? We Americans are paying for their education so they need to suck it up or go back home. But in any case, pride in our country should never take a back seat to the feelings of anyone else, least of all any uninvited trespassers who might or might not be present. What next? Dipping our flag for that of some other country because that country has some of it's people here obtaining benefits from us?

Judge Andrew Napolitano has warned Congress not to act “like potted plants” regarding the increased use of unmanned surveillance drones without warrants over US skies by military, government, and law enforcement agencies.

Echoing the recent comments of his Fox News colleague Charles Krauthammer, Napolitano also said that “The first American patriot that shoots down one of these drones that comes too close to his children in his backyard will be an American hero.”

Well hell...I'm your huckleberry, Judge. Bring one over this way and I'll see what I can do.

So how exactly do I lure one of those things in range?

Saturday Western

In this clip from Return of the Bad Men (1948), good guy vance (played by Randolph Scott) fights the Sundance Kid (Robert Ryan).

Both men were real heroes off-screen as well. Scott served in World War One as an Army Artillery Observer in France, and Ryan served in World War Two as a Marine Corps Drill Instructor. Scott also tried to obtain a Marine Corps commission when World War Two broke out but was rejected due to an old back injury. Still, he went on to tour and raise money for the troops for the duration of the war. And it's noteworthy that both men volunteered to leave their burgeoning film careers to enlist when America called.

Somehow I can't see "stars" like Robert Downey Jr. or Tobey Maguire rushing down to the recruiter's office just because America's at war. But men were really men and Patriotism was the norm back then. Times have certainly changed, haven't they?

From this day forward, WMAL can kiss my ass.

There used to be a great radio station in Washington, DC. It was WMAL, AM 1270, and I listened to it every day. This station had a smashing line-up of conservative hosts, both local and syndicated. It was like a beacon of truth, broadcasting into the DC area.

However not once, but twice now, this station has caved in to pressure from local muslim interest groups and shown local hosts the door after they spoke too negatively too many times about radical islam.

The first time was a few years back. Late morning host Michael Graham was booted from the station after a concerted effort by CAIR, the Council of American Islamic Relations, which included threats of lawsuits, harassment of the station's advertising sponsors, and complaints to the FCC and Democrats in Congress who are friendly with CAIR despite it's ties to terrorist groups like Hamas.

Make no mistake about it. CAIR is no friend to America. Michael Graham knew this and said it enough that CAIR got him fired. Graham is now up in Boston, hosting a show on Boston's WTKK, 96.9 FM. He also writes a blog column which I have linked to over on the left side of this page for some time.

The backlash against WMAL when they dropped Graham at CAIR's insistence was huge. I, for one, still refuse to tune in during Graham's old time slot, which is now filled by Chris Core, a pretty decent guy otherwise.

Well now WMAL has decided to repeat that stupid move and boot another host for speaking out against radical islam's connections to terrorism, and this time the ceremonial victim is Fred Grandy, former Congressman and TV actor best known to some as Gopher on the old Love Boat TV show that my mother and many other old people used to watch. Grandy reportedly left his long-time morning 5A-9A drive-time slot yesterday after being pressured to stop talking about islam and after being told that his wife, known to many of us as "Mrs. Fred", was banned from his show.

I've listened to Fred Grandy every morning that I've been east of the Blue Ridge range for years and I've loved the mix of conservatism and humor that we got from Fred and his only recently-departed former co-host, Andy Parks, who was an outspoken critic of illegal aliens. Parks was replaced on what had been the "Grandy and Andy" show with Bryan Nehman, a lightweight political moderate who lacks the passion or the humor of either Parks or Grandy.

And now Grandy's gone too. And so is this formerly-faithful WMAL listener. When station management continually caves in to pressure from interest groups, particularly those who represent foreign entities like CAIR or Casa de Maryland, (the local taxpayer-funded illegal alien lobby), they certainly don't exhibit the resolve to stand up either for the interests of Americans or the First Amendment sufficient to warrant my support.

How times have changed

As we watch today's spoiled youth mock and malign our troops who are in harm's way, and as we recall a generation who came of age in the 60's and 70's who considered it "cool" to hate and spit on our troops and burn recruitment centers, sometimes I need a reminder that it wasn't always that way. There was a time when Americans got behind our troops and our leaders, and back then, a pro-America, pro-war-effort Hollywood actually led the way.

Here's a little gem I found consisting of veteran actor William Frawley (known to many later in life as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo's grumpy landlord Fred Mertz or Bub O'Casey on My Three Sons) leading a movie matinee patriotic sing-along about supporting our war effort and buying war bonds during World War Two.

It's ironic that he's dressed as an academic. Maybe those sheltered shitbird Columbia U. kids could learn a thing or two from "Professor" Frawley.

Obama the insult comic and his America-bashing pal Flippy.

First of all, it's bad enough that Barack Obama has been, since his coronation, the least patriotic president that America has ever seen. I mean, all he does is go around the world apologizing for our country's greatness, our culture that influences the world, and our history, which includes freeing more people from the yoke of oppressive governments than any other nation on the planet has ever even tried to free. The arrogant jerk has never, as far as I know, stood up and told the world what a fantastic country that America is or spoken of our liberties and freedoms and the opportunities that all are afforded here. Rather than defend our record on human rights and liberty--a record which is second to no other--he constantly beats his chest and apologizes to anyone who will listen, including third-world tyrants and the Communist Chinese. And sitting here listening to his hand-picked emissaries telling the Red Chinese that our record on human rights is shameful--and directly citing the people of Arizona and their new immigration law (a law which I believe that Obama still has not read) is nothing less than a malfeasance worthy of impeachment, IMHO. The guy was given the job of President of the United States, and that includes Arizona, last I looked. His job, quite frankly, is to stand up for the people of Arizona, not to castigate them on the world stage and insult them, and when they're disparaged, he should be the first one to defend them.

But alas, Barky doesn't have that sort of worldview. He's shown us over and over again that his preferred role is one of a critic, or an insult comic, and if America-bashing gets him in better with the other world leaders--especially the ones that are only respected by leftist college kids--well then he's on that like Rosie O'Donnell on a taco. Hell, he can't even dignify the office of the President by wearing a tie while conducting official business. I saw him on the news last night getting off of Marine One, and I noticed two things. First, he didn't even bother to acknowledge the Marine guards. Unlike Presidents Bush and Reagan, who almost always returned their salutes with at least a wave or a nod, B.O. just brushed right past these men--men who are undoubtedly a hundred times the men that he could even hope to be. And second--his collar was unbuttoned and he wasn't wearing a tie as he waved to the media cameras. Wow, but we've come a long ways since the days when President Reagan refused to even take his jacket off in the Oval Office.

Of course President Reagan would never have derided and mocked the citizens of a U.S. state like Obama has done to the people of Arizona. (Or Pennsylvania...remember his crack about bitter people clinging to their guns and religion?) And President Reagan would never have let a tinpot ruler like Felipe (henceforth pronounced "Flippy") Calderon come into our country and stand up not only at our White House but before a joint session of our Congress and rip into us for Arizona's laws which are intended to remove those illegally in that state--criminals who enter almost entirely from Mexico. And then as the Democrats give him standing ovation after standing ovation--and as Republicans refuse to stand up and walk out on him--he goes further and blames us for his country's crime, saying that our drug users and our gun laws are the big problem.

Well screw you, Flippy--while it's true that we do have a fair number of losers in our country who care more about getting high than they do about all of the people murdered or maimed by the drug dealers, the last I checked, we have TWO borders that drugs come over and CANADA has yet to produce these massive, violent drug cartels...no, Flippy--it's just your nation that's chosen that path. And our guns? Well if you really don't want our guns in yours country, then you should support a serious border fence just like most real Americans do. With a serious border betwen our countries, your drugs and citizens stay in your country, and our guns stay in our country. Sounds like a win/win, eh? I mean, the only way that you could oppose that idea would be if you received a greater benefit from the drugs and illegal aliens coming into our country than you do from our guns entering yours.

What's that?

cue crickets chirping.

Anyway, back on topic--only in an Obama-led America do we get people like Flippy Calderon coming here and telling us how badly we as a nation and a people suck while our President stands next to him, grinning like a fool. I wish Andrew Jackson was still president...Old Hickory would have likely busted Flippy in the mouth on the spot and then declared war on his sorry excuse for a country and taken it over. But Obama...no worries there. When he hears an America-basher winding up, he'd rather shuck and jive and scream "Right on!"

Two and a half more years of this moron... Sheesh. I can only hope that the fools who voted for him--or didn't show up to vote against him--have wised up by them. I also hope that we still have a country by then.

Every man a Rifleman II

This simple but eloquent post by Ed Rasimus got me to thinking.

Every real, patriotic American should have a rifle and ammunition, and be proficient in their use. Our government once agreed, hence the creation of the Department of Civilian Marksmanship (DCM), now privatized and known today at the Civilian Marksmanship Program, or(CMP).

Yes, there was a time when the government wanted us all armed and able to shoot in defense of our nation and our freedom and liberty. Ironically, many in that government would love to take every one of those guns back away from us as liberty and freedom just aren't in in vogue these days. See what happens when liberals get control?

Anyway...I'm also a fan of preparedness and self-reliance when it comes to personal defense, which is why, like many of my readers and blog authors that I link to, I maintain the requisite tools.I've owned this M1A and 1911A1 pistol since the mid 1980's. Both are Springfield Armory products and two of the very few guns that I've ever purchased new. I've competed with them, traveled and camped with them, and fired countless thousands of rounds through them to get to the point where I seldom fail to hit what I aim either of them at. I will defend my country and my personal liberty at all costs and these are my liberty teeth.

But sometimes, you need a bit more. You can't really expect to play golf with just two clubs, can you? I mean, you can if that's all you have, but as different shots call for different clubs, you do better with a full set.

Sometimes, you need to go for distance.

Sometimes, you need to work in close.

And sometimes, when you really need to cover an area or defend a point, you need to work with a partner.

That noise? It's the sound of Freedom.

BOISE --Ten F-16 fighter jets with the Vermont National Guard will be flying from both Mountain Home Air Force base and Boise's Gowen Field through May 12 as part of a training exercise.And reaction to increased take-off noise levels was mixed in neighborhoods near Gowen Field.

Some people say the fighter jet noise bothers them and worry it will get worse with potential arrival of F-35 squadrons.

"If they want a noisy town, they're getting it," said Mick Gorostiza who lives near Gowen. "And people say you can move. Well, yeah, I can move after I paid for this house and lived here 37 years."

Others say the jet noise is an acceptable price for military preparedness.

"It's just noise," said Glenda Day. "Who cares? I mean they're defending us. Should we complain because we're being defended?"

Idaho Air Guard spokesman Col. Tim Marsano says the jets do take measures to reduce the noise levels, using after burners only when necessary, gaining altitude rapidly, and keeping flights in the less populated areas.

If these whiners think that F-16's are loud, they should be grateful that they're not being visited by old F-4 Phantoms, A-6 Intruders or B-52 bombers. Now Those...they made real noise. You felt those when they went to full power.

Administrators at a California high school sent five students home on Wednesday after they refused to remove their American flag T-shirts and bandannas -- garments the school officials deemed "incendiary" on Cinco de Mayo.

The five teens were sitting at a table outside Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., on Wednesday morning when Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez asked two of them to remove their American flag bandannas, one of their parents told FoxNews.com. The boys complied, but were asked to accompany Rodriguez to the principal's office.

The five students -- Daniel Galli, Austin Carvalho, Matt Dariano, Dominic Maciel and Clayton Howard -- were then told they must turn their T-shirts inside-out or be sent home, though it would not be considered a suspension. Rodriguez told the students he did not want any fights to break out between Mexican-American students celebrating their heritage and those wearing American flags.

Dariano's mother, Diana, told FoxNews.com she and parents of the other four students are now demanding an apology from officials and are considering a lawsuit.

"We want an apology," Diana Dariano said Thursday. "Who in the United States of America would have an issue with that? It's a sad, sad day."

Dariano said her son has at least four T-shirts with American flags that he wears often and did not try to cause any conflict at school.

"I'm more hurt than anything," she said. "It is so hurtful and disrespectful the way this has turned. These are American kids."

The boys told Rodriguez and Principal Nick Boden that turning their shirts inside-out was disrespectful, so their parents decided to take them home.

"I just couldn't believe it," Julie Fagerstrom, Maciel's mother, told the Morgan Hill Times. "I'm an open-minded parent, but it's got to be on both sides. It can't be five kids singled out."

Galli told NBC Bay Area, "They said we could wear it on any other day, but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it."

In a statement released Thursday, Morgan Hill Unified School District Superintendent Wesley Smith characterized the incident as "extremely unfortunate" and said the matter is under investigation.

"The Morgan Hill Unified School District does not prohibit nor do we discourage wearing patriotic clothing," Smith's statement read. "The incident on May 5 at Live Oak High School is extremely unfortunate. While campus safety is our primary concern and administrators made decisions yesterday in an attempt to ensure campus safety, students should not, and will not, be disciplined for wearing patriotic clothing. This matter is under investigation and appropriate action will be taken."

Officials at Live Oak High School did not return several messages seeking comment on Thursday. A secretary told the Morgan Hill Times that Boden and Rodriguez were unavailable for comment on Wednesday.

According to its website, Live Oak High School is a 1,300-student institution in the southern part of Santa Clara County, with most students residing in the nearby cities of Morgan Hill and San Jose.

"The student population reflects the rich ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of the community," the website reads.

More than 100 students were spotted wearing the colors of the Mexican flag -- red, white and green -- as they left school, including some who had the flag painted on their faces or arms, the Morgan Hill times reported.

While bandannas of any color are banned at the school, its dress code policy does not contain references to American flags.

"However, any clothing or decoration which detracts from the learning environment is prohibited," the policy reads. "The school has the right to request that any student dressing inappropriately for school will change into other clothes, be sent home to change, and/or be subject to disciplinary action."

Freshman Laura Ponce, who had a Mexican flag painted on her face and chest, told the Morgan Hill Times that Cinco de Mayo is the "only day" Mexican-American students can show their national pride.

"There was a lot of drama going on today," Ponce told the newspaper.

Some other Mexican-American students reportedly said their flags were taken away or asked to be put away, but no other students were sent home on Wednesday.

First of all, Principal Nick Boden and Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez need to be fired.They're clearly not fit to educate our youth and shape them into good Americans the way that our schools used to and should still be doing today.

Next, this balkanization of our society by the liberal left has to stop. We are one nation, indivisible, and that nation is represented by this flag:Generations of Americans have fought and died under this flag, including many whose ancestry traces back to Mexico. A number of them were recent immigrants themselves when they enlisted, and they did not fight at placed like Belleau Wood, Normandy, Iwo Jima, Pork Chop Hill, Khe Sanh as French-Americans, Italian-Americans or Mexican-Americans, they did so as AMERICANS.

Someone needs to tell Bodin and Rodriguez and the little wanna-be reconquistas running around Live Oak High School and the rest of California that there is only one culture in this country and that is the American culture. Everyone is an American and we are all represented by that flag above 365 days a year. If you are one of those people who feels that you are not an American, if you feel a primary loyalty to some other country, allow me to direct you to the nearest border--it can be crossed both ways. If you're an American, this is your flag. If our flag offends you because you consider yourself a citizen of another country, then by all means go to that country today and live under theirs.

And don't bother coming back.

USS Constitution prevails over commie condo crowd.

"Old Ironsides", otherwise known as the USS Constitution, is our nation's oldest warship. Launched in 1797, she's retained her commission as an active United States warship ever since. In her long history, this ship has fought and defeated Barbary Pirates, the British and the Confederates. And 2010 will forever be remembered as the year that the Constitution whupped the damned Yuppies.




You see, the Constitution has maintained a tradition going back over 200 years, that being that twice daily, she fires a gun and plays the national anthem. I've heard it and it's a wonderful way to begin and/or close out one's day. Every American has a reason to feel proud when they hear that anthem and look upon the Stars and Stripes flying from Old Ironsides' jackstaff.



Unfortunately, this longstanding patriotic tradition--one that dates back to 1798--is now under attack by a handful of unpatriotic assholes who have recently moved into condominiums which were built not too long ago near Old Ironsides' berth at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston Harbor. These whiners--each of whom moved into the neighborhood knowing that the Constitution was already there--have tried to silence these ceremonies, objecting to the cannon fire and in particular to hearing the national anthem every day. They recently sent a letter to Commander Timothy Cooper, the ship's current Commander, asking him to stop playing the anthem and use less powder in the guns or cease firing them altogether.

I'm proud to say though that Commander Cooper stuck to his guns, literally and figuratively, and refused. The guns shall continue to fire and the anthem will play on.As for the jackalopes in the condos...well they can just up and move if they don't like it, preferably to another country. I'm willing to bet that they're all Obama-voting liberals anyway as any real American would feel honored to live in the shadow of that wonderful ship and no patriotic citizen ever tires of our nation's anthem.

Burn Notice boycott is OVER!

OK. After reading this great post on Blackfive, my self-imposed boycott of the show Burn Notice is at an end.

Some of you may recall a post a few months back where I expressed a great deal of disappointment over something that lead actor Jeffery Donovan did off the set. It was enough to make me give up watching what had been one of the very few modern shows that I ever watched. But that's all in the past now as it has been more than atoned for by his recent action--traveling to Iraq with co-star Bruce Campbell to visit our troops serving there.

That's the sort of class that we used to routinely see from our Hollywood celebrities back in the day that Hollywood was patriotic and actually supported America and our troops. (That would be "pre-George Clooney" for those who don't remember those days.)

Here they are shooting with our troops at Combat Outpost Meade on November 13th.Yeah, Jeffrey Donovan needs someone to teach him how to actually hold that Beretta M9. No one uses that old "cup-and-saucer" hold any more. But Bruce Campbell (below) seems to be enjoying that M249 SAW and making good use of it.

Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell did not have to go to Iraq. They could have done as most of the rest of Hollywood has done and is still doing and just ignored our troops. But they went, and they gave our troops a much-needed boost. So because they did that, Burn Notice is once again back on the TV here. Good job, guys.

Three unpatriotic punks booted from stadium, oft-disciplined attorney dad suing.

It starts out simply enough, according to the news report.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Three teenagers who say they were tossed from a New Jersey ballpark for sitting through the song "God Bless America" are suing the minor league Newark Bears.

The boys say their constitutional rights were violated when they were asked to leave Newark's Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in June by Bear's president co-owner Thomas Cetnar.

Cetnar confirms the boys were asked to leave but declined to elaborate.

The boys - Millburn High seniors Bryce Gadye (gah-DEE') and Nilkumar (NIHL-koo-mahr) Patel, both 17, and junior Shaan (shahn) Mohammad Khan, 16 - sued in federal court Friday seeking unspecified damages.

They say when they told Cetnar they had the right to remain seated, he cursed and had two security officers remove them from their seats behind home plate.

Now just taking these facts as the whole story, I'm good with them getting booted for their arrogant display of disrespect. Hell, I'd like to take it a step farther and boot them right out of my country. Let the little cretins go enjoy the freedoms and liberties of most any other country for a few years and I predict that they'll be down on their knees begging to get back into this one. And for the record, I not only support Mr. Cetnar 100%, but I respect the hell out of him.

I'd also like to remind these little shitbirds that lawsuits alleging that their constitutional rights were violated really only work when the government denies you a right. Here though, they're in a private venue, with no government actors. The government doesn't own the stadium or the team, nor did a government official order them out. So that said, I have to wonder what kind of third-rate hack lawyer took on a case like this.

I didn't have to wonder long. This longer article explained that the lawsuit was filed on behalf of the punks by Ross Mitchell Gayde, Bryce's daddy, apparently after an unsuccessful attempt to shake the team and the stadium down for cash.

Ross Gadye said he met with general manager Mark Skeels and James Wankmiller, a co-owner, following the incident. He said they apologized and offered and free tickets, but Gadye said the boys wanted an apology from Cetnar, who was not at the meeting, and sued when there was no resolution.

Wankmiller, who declined to talk about whether the boys were asked to leave the ballpark and why, said they offered to meet with Gadye's son and the other boys and never heard back from them. He said it boiled down to money.

"We offered to sit with him and find out what his beef was and he asked for money," Wankmiller said. "That was about it."

So Daddy Gadye tried to pull a Jesse Jackson on them and extort some cash for the little hoodlums, and when the managers refused, he filed a lawsuit and started calling up newspapers and TV stations.

Now had this been me, MY father would have knocked my block off for not standing tall and showing the respect for our country that he taught me to have. Then he would have had me in that baseball team owner's office, where I would have apologized like there was no tomorrow coming had I ever caused a scene like this. But then he was my father, not my buddy, and he saw to it that I at least knew right from wrong.

But apparently these little turds never learned that lesson. And in Bryce Gadye's case, it's easy to see why.

A follow-up search showed that Daddy Ross Gadye is not exactly a good or ethical attorney. I immediately found his name on a 2001 US Supreme Court Order of Attorney Discipline.

Even more, he also made this list of Lawyers Involved In Dishonest Conduct And Amounts Awarded To Their Clients 1982-2008.

Wow! Suspended in New Jersey, Disbarred in New York, labeled "Dishonest"...what marks of distinction and accomplishment for any attorney! But now we know what kind of chucklehead lawyer brings a case like this. And it's no wonder that his kid is a piece of shit. The apple seldom falls far from the tree.

A hero recieves his due once more

Well it's good to see that American hero Danny Dietz is still recieving recognition in his hometown for his selfless sacrifice in Afgahnistan.

Long-time readers here may recall my earlier story about the attempt by local members of the VFW to place a statue honoring Dietz in a city park only to have anti-war, anti-gun and anti-American fruitbats like Emily Cassidy and Linda Cuesta start protesting it and circulating flyers and petitions in opposition because they thought that the statue glorified war and guns.

Fortunately the lemon-suckers lost their fight and that statue was placed and dedicated before a large crowd of patriotic Americans, including members of the military and the Dietz family.

LITTLETON, Colo.—State officials and family members of slain Colorado Navy SEAL Danny Dietz will help dedicate a stretch of South Santa Fe Drive in the commando's honor.
The ceremony was planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vanderbilt Park, North of Mississippi Avenue. The stretch of Santa Fe Drive from the intersection with Interstate 25 to C-470 will be named Petty Officer Danny Dietz Memorial Highway.

Dietz grew up in Littleton and graduated from Heritage High School in 1999. He was killed in 2005 in Afghanistan in a gun battle with Taliban forces when his unit was ambushed.

The military says Dietz fought off attackers for more than 45 minutes, allowing one of his team members to escape. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross, the Navy's second-highest medal.

If I had my way, those who have attacked and undermined our war effort and vilified our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines abroad would be forever barred from driving or riding on the section of roadway. And I would specifically bar Emily Cassidy, Linda Cuesta, John Murtha, and any past or present member or supporter of groups like Code Pink.

Ah, national pride patriotism...and the lack thereof.

OCEAN CITY – A local woman was arrested for disturbing the peace and burning an American flag early last Sunday morning, long after the embers of the last Fourth of July fireworks had smoldered and died.

Shortly after 6 a.m. last Sunday, two Ocean City police officers who had finished their Fourth of July shifts and were heading home observed a woman, later identified as Rebecca Ellen McKimmie, 18, of Ocean City, igniting an American flag with a cigarette lighter. As the officers approached, they observed McKimmie standing between two lanes of traffic leading to the Route 50 Bridge while continuing to light the flag until it was actively burning.

According to police reports, McKimmie then began to stomp on the burning American flag, causing several vehicles to swerve to avoid hitting her. When the officers asked McKimmie why she was burning the American flag the day after the celebration of the nation’s independence day, she simply told them she was “making a statement,” according to police reports.

Now I don’t know what crazy bats are flying around inside this girl’s head, but if she’s got such a problem with this great country of ours, I’m all for giving her a swift kick in the ass and punting her right out of here. Maybe she’s prefer to go live in Somalia or the Sudan for a while, at least until she realizes how good that we have it here in this country that she hates so much.

And yeah, it burns me that we’ve got proud, patriotic Americans fighting and putting up with abysmal conditions abroad on behalf of our country and freedom and democracy in general, and this spoiled little princess sits here in the comfort and safety that they provide and basically says that in her eyes, our country sucks. Well it’s too damned bad that we can’t change her point of view to one where she’s on the outside looking back in.

Personally I think that a muslim country would be a good place to send this bratty trust-fund kid. Aside from the opportunity for her to develop an appreciation for our tolerant, diverse culture and our freedoms here, quite honestly, with a face like hers, a burkha would only improve her looks.

Vermont school bans Pledge of Allegiance from classrooms on behalf of any unpatriotic kids

Stories like this one make me wonder when some people stopped being Americans.

WOODBURY — No one's sure when daily recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance fell by the wayside at Woodbury Elementary School.

But efforts to restore them have erupted into a bitter dispute in this tiny (pop. 810) Vermont town, with school officials blocking the exercise from classrooms amid concerns that it holds nonparticipating children up to scorn.

Supporters say the classroom is the place for it, and the disagreement has fueled an increasingly acrimonious debate.

The brouhaha in the Vermont school began in September, when parent Ted Tedesco began circulating petitions calling for its return as a daily practice in the 19th-century schoolhouse, which has 55 children in grades kindergarten through six.

School officials agreed to resume the pledge as a daily exercise, but not in the classroom.

"We don't want to isolate children every day in their own classroom, or make them feel they're different," said Principal Michaela Martin.

Instead, starting last week, a sixth grade student was assigned to go around to the four classrooms before classes started, gathering up anyone who wanted to say it and then walking them up creaky wooden steps to a second-floor gymnasium, where he led them in the pledge.

About half the students chose to participate, according to Martin.

Tedesco, 55, a retired U.S. Marine Corps major, and others who signed his petitions didn't like that solution, calling it disruptive to routine and inappropriate because it put young children in the position of having to decide between pre-class play time and leaving the classroom to say the Pledge.

"Saying the Pledge in the classroom is legal, convenient and traditional," said Tedesco. "Asking kindergarten through sixth graders who want to say the Pledge to leave their classrooms to do so is neither convenient nor traditional."

Martin and School Board Chair Retta Dunlap defended the practice, saying it restored the Pledge to the school as requested and preserved the rights of students who — for political or religious reasons — didn't want to participate.

On Friday, the routine changed again.

Just before 8 a.m., Martin herded all the school's students — and a handful of adults — into a cramped foyer that adjoins the first-floor classrooms and told sixth-grader Nathan Gilbert, 12, to lead them in the Pledge.

Most recited it; some didn't.

Afterward, 10 adults streamed down the steps and outside, forming a circle around Dunlap for a heated discussion in which they pressed for an explanation of why it couldn't be said in the classrooms.

The format is up to teachers, not administrators or parents, Dunlap said.

In an interview, Martin said the point of having the whole school gather for the Pledge was to protect children who don't participate in it.

"If you're in a classroom with 15 students and you choose not to say the Pledge, it's much more obvious than a group setting. When they're saying it in a group of 55, it's may not be so obvious. We don't want to isolate children," she said.

OK, so because a few kids who are too young to have any independent political opinions--we're talking K-6th grade here--might feel isolated or get picked on because they choose not to say the Pledge of Allegiance, now the whole school is out of whack in an effort to protect those kids from hurt feelings.

Frankly, it's because of stupid stuff like this why I no longer consider Vermont to be part of America or Vermonters to be my fellow citizens. It's not just this episode...that little state has a long track record of unpatriotic (liberal) BS, like public officials threatening to arrest our President.

But back to this topic...what's wrong with the school showing a little backbone and actually teaching the kids to be proud of America by telling them some of the many, many good things that America is about? I mean, that's why they're in school, isn't it? To learn? How does a kid that young even come up with enough anti-American sentiment to get to the point where they refuse to say our Pledge? Oh yeah...they get it from their parents--a bunch of ungrateful, unpatriotic blue-state losers who could only improve this country by packing all of their crap into their little European cars and moving to Canada.

But the school still needs to start teaching and leading, and Patriotism needs to be high on that list. If the current school officials aren't willing to try to make good citizens out of those kids the way that school officials used to, then they should be removed and replaced with real educators--optimistic, patriotic adults who actually love our country enough to be able to inspire others to love it via lessons that involve our history, our Constitution and how it came about, and the Americans whose creative ability brought new technology, wealth and freedom not just to this land but to much of the rest of the world.

And if some weird little kid still insists on not pledging allegiance to this country either because they're that desperate for attention or because their parents are die-hard America-haters who forbid it, well then those kids should simply be removed from the school so as not to contaminate the other kids and erode the positive environment that the teachers should be creating there.

When I went to school, every class room had an American flag in it, and every day began with a pledge. And by the time I got out of Elementary School, I already knew enough about this great country and my great forebears that I wouldn't have thought of not being proud to be an American. I wanted to be like those great people that I'd been taught about--the statesmen, the soldiers, the inventors, the explorers, the settlers, the astronauts...

Now we've got schools pumping out a bunch of semi-literate brats who hate our country and don't even know why. All they aspire to become now is rappers, Hollywood movie scum, or reality TV contestants. No wonder drug use juvenile crime and teen pregnancy is off the hook now. These kids have nothing in their future because our schools are so busy indoctrinating them to accept and embrace homosexuality and multiculturalism that they've stopped teaching basics like history, civics and citizenship.

The Vermonters need to get their heads out of their asses and start taking their schools back from Liberal feel-gooders like Micheala Martin. And Martin and her supporters in the school and on the school board need to be sent packing, preferably in search of new jobs that don't allow them any influence or authority over our nation's kids.

As for kids like Michela Martin champions, well when you bring kids up to become unpatriotic and useless, all you're really doing is creating a new generation of Democrat voters. They're perfectly suited for that and nothing else. And that's the most important argument for getting the teachers' unions out of our educational system and stopping their corrupting influence before we lose any more generations.

No Hero is respected in his hometown...

On June 28, 2005, US Navy SEAL Danny Dietz and three other Navy SEALs were ambushed by al-Qaeda guerrillas in Afghanistan. Dietz, 25, was severely wounded but fought off the attackers for more than 45 minutes, allowing one of his team members to escape. Dietz subsequently died but his team member lived. For his actions, Dietz received the Navy Cross, the Navy's second-highest medal.

But far from being appreciated and given his due as a hero, Danny Dietz is now at the center of an uproar in his hometown of Littleton, Colorado. According to the Denver Post, plans by the city to place a statue of Dietz in Berry Park are now being protested by a group of parents and other liberals who object to a statue of a soldier so close to neighborhood schools.

They say the statue, depicting Dietz clutching an automatic rifle, glorifies violence. In Berry Park, it would be within blocks of three schools and two playgrounds.

"I don't think young children should be exposed to that in that way - unsupervised by their parents or any adults," said Emily Cassidy, one of the mothers.

The parents have circulated fliers opposing the design and location of the statue at the southeast corner of South Lowell Boulevard and West Berry Avenue, in a triangle formed by Goddard Middle School, Community School for the Gifted and Centennial Elementary School.

They sent a letter to school board members, nearby residents, members of parent-teacher organizations and others to protest "the statue's particular location."

Linda Cuesta, the parent of a child who was at Columbine High School during the deadly April 1999 shootings, said that memory "colors everything in my life."

Dietz's father said the family is devastated by the uproar.

"It broke our hearts," said Dan Dietz, who still lives in the area. "My son was fighting for her freedom to do exactly what she is doing. She put my son in the same category as Columbine. How does she have the audacity to do that?"

There is no way that this hero's father should have to suffer this assault on his son's memory. But Alan Stone unfortunately has it right:

"The people who have never served in the armed forces are always the ones who speak the loudest against what the armed forces have done," said Allan Stone of the Pat Hannon VFW Post No. 4666 in Littleton, which helped raise nearly $42,000 for the sculpture.

Damn straight that. I'm just glad to report that as of this writing, the city is standing fast and not caving in to the screeching of Emily Cassidy and the other unpatriotic Donahues.
