Fingerprints and new fees for legal gun owners in DC

See what happens when we let our "public servant" overlords force us to register our guns?

MILLER: Every D.C. firearm owner to be fingerprinted to renew gun registry

"Hey DC gun owners...we finally gave in to the courts and let you jump though numerous hoops to buy and register guns, and now that you haven't caused any trouble with them--get on down here and give us your fingerprints and pay us more money. And if you don't...you'll be a felon!"

This is what DC's gun-owning minority is now hearing from their city council. Even though the police chief, Cathy Lanier, who is no friend to gun owners herself, testified against it, claiming that it would be more burdensome than beneficial, Council Chair Phil "Drivers licenses for illegals" Mendelson rammed it though anyway. (I wonder if illegals who own guns will have to give their fingerprints?)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: DC has proven itself unwilling and unable to govern itself fairly and efficiently. Time to revoke it's "home rule", fire it's mayor, disband it's city council, and turn it back over to Congress to run.

Yeah, like Congress will be any more freedom-loving!

    And how sad is THAT!

  2. Hate to say this, but Congress will do any better? I suppose the only counter would be they can't be any worse.

  3. And you would trust Congress to get anything right?
    I must be missing something...

  4. Congress?!!!! Like they would do a better job of running DC? I never thought you to be a Pollyanna, ML!

They are being true to their marxist roots, and are saying about SCOTUS what Stalin said about the Pope: "How many divisions has he got?". SCOTUS has no enforcement arm (or at least, it has no enforcement arm that is interested in doing its job - see Holder, Eric), and therefore the Overlords of DC aren't afraid of SCOTUS, or of violating its rulings.

  5. Yes, Congress.

I understand that Congress does very little right, but at least there would be some partisan balance with a congressional committee made up of Rs and Ds whereas right now all DC has is a cadre of leftist Democrats. It would truly be a lesser of two evils, but the current situation in DC is the greater of two evils.
