For once, the public servants listened when the public spoke in objection to something that they wanted to do.

They reportedly heard from 52 senators and 238 House members and over 80,000 citizens on this issue, and even law enforcement groups said that they didn't call for, approve of or see a need for this attempt to ban a fairly large percentage of the available cheap surplus ammunition for AR-15 rifles.

Of course the Justice Department will have the final say, but I doubt that Obama wants to see that decision made so close to his own desk. We all know that he hates gun owners and wants to get even with a group of people that he believes don't support him, but he likes to swipe at the citizens who he views as his enemies from behind the facade of the bureaucracy, and in this instance, the bureaucracy isn't willing to play ball and take the blame in the face of this populace outrage.

Take a look at the list of House and Senate members who weighed in on our behalf, and if yours are among the signatories, send them a nice thank you letter. And if yours are not...remember next November

Democrat Congresswoman explains how a magazine ban works.

“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

And that, folks, is what happens when stupid voters elect stupid representatives to Congress. Those representatives craft and fight for laws that are stupid because they have no clue about the subject matter or real effects of what they are trying to do.

In this case, Rep. DeGette confuses hi-capacity magazines with the ammunition itself and claims that if we just ban new magazines, the old ones will disappear once they are used. And Denver voters have elected or re-elected this rocket scientist 4 times. Makes you really wonder about the brain trust in that city, doesn't it? But then we always see this sort of thing happen when an area's population gets to be so dependent on government benefits that all they care about is the "D" in front of the candidates' names come election day.

Excuse me now while I go weep for my country just a little.

House votes on National Concealed Carry...Media strangely silent.

You’d think that it would be big news that the House of representatives voted on a bill which would put concealed weapons permits on par with drivers’ licenses and ensure that every state recognized permits issued by any other state, but HS 822 got relatively little press attention today despite passing 272 to 154, with 17 republicans voting against and 43 Democrats voting in favor. Perhaps the Obama-controlled media doesn’t want people watching the Democrat-controlled Senate to see what they do with it over there, as pretty much everyone who pays attention to such things knows that Harry Reid won’t ever let it come up for a vote, especially if he polls and figures out that such a bill would pass the Senate on an up-or-down vote. After all, that would be too much pressure to put on Obama as he courts the votes of pro-gun swing states next year. This wouldn’t be one that he could simply vote “present” on and punt like he just did the job-creating, oil-providing tar sands pipeline that his green base hates so much. No, the ultimate political coward is going to make sure that this bill never reaches his desk or gets much press because he knows that his anti-gun credentials are trouble enough in many states and a veto by him would likely doom his re-election chances in several close states.

But fortunately, we have the internet and the blogosphere and we can bypass the mainstream media. The vote on HR 822 did pass the House and Murphy and I even have the roll call vote listing who voted which way on it. That vote list can be found here.
(Hey Michigan, way to go with your freshman Republican Justin Amash! He just voted to ensure that Michigan residents will remain unable to carry in numerous other states.)

It's funny now how the opposition is claiming that those in favor are selling out "states' rights", yet most of those raising that hue and cry are the same ones who blast the concept of states' rights when a state refuses to legalize marijuana or gay rights or tries to restrict the power of union workers or those seeking abortions. In other words, states should never have the power to run their own affairs unless they choose to run them according to liberal ideals. So don't but the whole "this infringes on a state's right..." line. What it really does is empower the people who mmake up the states: the individuals.

So contact your senators and demand that they take this up, and let's put some real heat on Obama this coming election.

Now that's what I'm talking about--Amnesty for veterans and their war trophies!

Per the NRA, two Congressmen, Representatives Denny Rehberg (R)-MT and Leonard Boswell (D)-IA, just introduced H.R. 420--the "Veterans' Heritage Firearms Act." This bill would create an amnesty period during which veterans who served before 1968 and/or their lawful heirs could add machine guns that they brought back from their military service in World War two and Korea (and a bit of Vietnam) to the National Firearms Registry.

Before 1968, it was legal for vets to bring back guns that they'd captured in battle or otherwise acquired, and while many of them registered their war-trophy machine guns during the one brief 30-day amnesty period offered in the early 1970's, many others did not, either because they didn't trust the government to let them keep said trophies, or else because they didn't even know about the amnesty. (It was only a month long, and there was no internet back then.) Consequently, many of those historic firearms which would now be quite valuable if they were legal became contraband and the mere possession of them a federal crime. But now, thanks to this bill, the vets who missed the first amnesty period have a second chance to register them and make them legal again, allowing them to be brought out of the shadows and shot, displayed, or sold.

This bill won't lead to "blood in the streets", as any weapon covered under it will be registered with the federal government just like many thousands of other lawfully-possessed machine guns are, and the FBI's own records show that crimes committed with lawful, legally-registered machine guns are virtually nil. (I'm aware of only two such crimes documented since 1968 that involved lawfully-owned machine guns.) What it will do is allow any number of veterans who served honorably to once again use and enjoy the firearms that they lawfully (at that time) brought back from their time overseas.

“Arbitrarily treating law abiding citizens like criminals is one of the biggest problems with federal gun registration requirements,” said Rehberg, a member of the Second Amendment Task Force. “In this case, we’re literally talking about punishing men and women who put their lives on the line for our freedom. It’s unacceptable and I’m going try and do something about it.”

During WWII and the Korean War, many veterans acquired war relic firearms, which was a lawful practice at the time. Under current law, if the firearms were not registered with the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record during a single 30-day registration period in the 1970s, the veteran or their heir may be convicted of illegally possessing the firearm.

The Veterans’ Heritage Firearms Act will provide a limited amnesty for veterans who served overseas between 1934 and 1968. During the amnesty period, veterans will be able to register war relic firearms without fear of prosecution. This amnesty also extends to the veteran’s lawful heirs who inherited these weapons. If the veteran or heir chooses not to keep the weapon, the law would allow them to transfer the relic to a museum or collection without penalty in an effort to preserve these valuable pieces of America’s military history.

“Having served more than twenty years in the U.S. Army, I know that many service members, myself included, bring home relics and souvenirs from their tours of duty,” Congressman Leonard Boswell (D-IA), who introduced the legislation with Rehberg. “Often times, a firearm from a tour becomes a family heirloom to a relative who doesn’t realize it should be registered with the National Firearms Act. We should give these veterans, service members and their families an opportunity to openly register these firearms without penalty.”

It might also add a few more Thompson SMGs, BARs, MP-39 and -40s, PPShs, or German MG's to the registry as these vets or their heirs decide to sell them to other gun enthusiasts or history buffs. We all know that those things are out there, hidden away in attics and basements; let's make them all legal again and get them back into circulation!

Demented Dem shows his love for "the little guy"

Do you believe this guy? Whack job Congressman and failed presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich,(D)--Crazyville, bought a wrap from the House cafeteria back in 2008. He claims that there was an olive pit in the wrap, which rendered it "unfit for human consumption". He further claims that said olive pit hurt one of his teeth. So this guy--a guy who makes $174,000 a year AND gets free dental care courtesy of the US taxpayers--is trying to sue the cafeteria contractor and pretty much everyone who ever had anything to do with making or selling that wrap. He's demanding $150,000 for "current and future dental expenses" even though he gets free lifetime dental care, and for "pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment".

Does he care this this suit takes money out of the pockets of all of those "little people" that he and his party claim to represent? Obviously not. All he really cares about, apparently, is enriching himself by any means, even if it takes food off the tables of many people who will never land a cush job like he's got...one where he gets paid mad money and gets lifetime medical and dental care (none of that "Obamacare" crap for him) just for showing up most days.

$150K. Just because he bought an olive sandwich with an olive in it. Half of me hopes that he never orders a fish dinner lest he find a fishbone in his meal. The other half of me hopes that he does and chokes on that fishbone.

What a scumbag. No wonder that neither he or his lawyer are willing to answer questions about this suit. Dennis Kucinich is a poster boy for the old saying about us getting the government that we deserve.

Wait--that's not correct. The losers in Ohio may deserve the guy, but I sure don't. How about you?

Tragedy in Arizona and a sad response.

In Arizona, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has been shot, along with at least 18 other people. One of the dead is a nine year old girl. The Honorable John Roll, federal judge has also been killed.

This is a tragedy that should be uniting all of America behind the victims here. Yet every single on-line commentary I peruse on news services and forums across the country is already filled with screeching posts by countless haters all trying to politicize this incident by linking it to the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Conservatism in general...and we don't even know anything about the killer yet except that he's a reportedly 22 year old male.

At a time when we should be coming together to denounce evil and support the victims and the families, thousands of left-wing lunatics and political hacks are already trying to use this horrific event to advance their cause and slander their political opponents.

House Speaker Boehner says it very well: "I am horrified by the senseless attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and members of her staff. An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society."

I agree with him. this is a time to be outraged, not to gleefully dip your fingers in the still-fresh blood and run around trying to smear it on your political opponents. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families tonight. And if you are one of those salivating haters who is already crowing about this incident and trying to use it to score partisan points, well then I pray for your soul, too.

Hey Steve Kagen--we kicked your ass.

Hey everyone...remember Wisconsin Democrat Steve Kagen? He was the guy who bragged about how, right after he got elected, he trapped Karl Rove in a men's room and boasted about "kicking his ass" following the Dems' sweep into control of the House four years ago. He also bragged about deliberately disrespecting Laura Bush by calling her "Barbara". He later bragged about how it was his intention to insult her and her husband by doing so.

I wrote about it here. The guy just got elected to high office and instead of behaving like a statesman, he ran around acting like an undisciplined 6th grader and then bragged about it repeatedly as if he expected Wisconsin voters to be proud of him.

Well Kagen--the punk extraordinaire--just got his own ass kicked by those voters and he's on his way back to the private sector after being trounced by Republican Reid Ribble Tuesday night.

Kagen's defeat follows that of Florida's Alan Grayson, another buffoon famous for a whole host of loutish actions such as his statement, made on the floor of the House of Representatives, that the Republicans’ plan to save some money in Medicare was to request that seniors die quickly. Even his own party members were embarrassed (just not enough to censure him).

These victories of civility and maturity over crassness will serve as a good start in the effort towards bringing respectability back to the House.

Patrick Kennedy cut off after getting sloshed in DC bar

The apple seldom falls far from the tree.

Rep. Patrick Kennedy was spotted doing vodka shots last week at a Capitol Hill bar just hours after he spoke about his history of substance abuse at a charity event.

An HOH tipster and a pal were sitting at the bar at the Capitol Lounge around 11 p.m. on Tuesday when the Rhode Island Democrat walked in and took a seat between the pair. The tipster’s friend asked the Congressman what he was drinking, and when Kennedy replied vodka, the group ordered vodka shots, the tipster tells us.

After slamming down the first round, another was ordered, then a third. Our tipster and his friend stopped doing shots, but Kennedy drank three more until the bartender cut him off, at least from obtaining any more shots, our tipster says.

Our tipster adds Kennedy was in a lively mood, joking with others at the bar and even boasting about President Barack Obama, calling him “the best president ever.”

When our tipster countered: “Wait a second. What about your uncle?” — referring, of course, to President John F. Kennedy — the younger Kennedy jovially responded, “Oh yeah! Good one,” and slapped our tipster’s back, he says.

No word on when Kennedy left the lounge, as our tipster headed out before the Congressman.

Earlier in the night, Kennedy received an award for his work on mental health issues at the annual fundraising dinner for N Street Village, a local charity that helps low-income women battle homelessness and drug addiction.

Kennedy — who was introduced at the soiree by his one-time substance abuse sponsor, former Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.) — touched on his personal history in his acceptance speech. The Congressman recalled the late night in 2006 when he crashed his car into a Capitol Hill barricade and subsequently headed to rehab for a prescription drug addiction.

Well we know that he had to be pretty wasted to declare Obama the "best president ever". This guy has been a sad, pathetic loser from the first day that his family's money bought him a Congressional seat in Rhode Island back in 1994, the year that he turned 21. Yet despite an unending litany of incidents like this--not the least of which was him crashing his car into a Capitol Police checkpoint and then running off to a private rehab clinic after refusing to submit to a breath test in 2006--the morons of America's least-significant state continued to re-elect him every two years.

It's idiots like this guy--and the idiots that keep re-electing him--that stand as the best argument for congressional term limits.

My hat is off to Representative Thaddeus McCotter for this short and hard-hitting expression of what so many of us feel today regarding Obama's theft of our private health care industry and every citizen's right to choose whether or not to participate.

A busy and dishonorable weekend in Washington, DC

Remember when our representatives in Congress actually represented us and voted accordingly?

Well today, the majority of them, Democrats all, disregarded their constituents--the people who voted them into office expecting to be...well...represented--and voted for a massive new social program designed to take control of the entire health care industry and give free stuff to the lazy while billing the producers. They did this because Obama and Nancy Pelosi told them to, despite the polls indicating that a majority of the country--including a majority of their own constituents--didn't want it.

They ignored the phone calls and letters that they all admit getting, they ignored the in-person visits from their own district residents, and they ignored the protests of organized outraged Americans from across the country. In so doing, they showed us all that their loyalty is to their party leaders first and their own constituents second, if even that.

Hear that drum beating? I hear it.

Now our National Mall in Washington DC is under siege by thousands of illegal aliens and their supporters, mostly relatives who benefited from a previous amnesty or special interest groups that get money to represent these trespassers and provide them with social services, again with the bill passed on to American workers. They're denouncing our laws, defiling our national flags, and demanding--demanding--that our representatives give them amnesty and American citizenship, making them fully equal to the rest of us and giving them priority over every immigrant who is trying to gain citizenship according to our laws that govern the process. And many legislators are caving into them, Republican Lindsay Graham foremost among them, as is Obama.

That drum beat is growing louder. Hear it yet, Washington?

Now we see that ACORN--the group that has been implicated in or convicted of fraud in numerous states on behalf of the Democratic Party and Obama--is going to keep getting our tax dollars despite a law passed by our representatives to put a stop to it. In other words, let the corruption commence again.

That drumbeat's getting louder yet. And those are war drums. The People are growing angry--the workers, the ones who play by the rules. The corruption and the disregard for the will of the citizens who sent you fools to Washington has to stop. If the 535 of you on the Capitol don't quit it and rein in the Marxist in the White House, We--the People--are going to have to find a way to stop you.

Reporter asks Pelosi about constitutionality of her health care scheme

And Pelosi responded on Thursday...with an arrogant sneer. "Are you serious?" Pelosi replied. "Are you serious?" She then walked away, leaving her press secretary/toady, Nadeam Elshami, to tell everyone that it wasn't a "serious" question and therefore did not deserve an answer.

I can't make this stuff up, folks. This nasty little creature has deluded herself into thinking that we just exist to serve her instead of the other way around like it's supposed to be.

(CNSNews.com) – When CNSNews.com asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday where the Constitution authorized Congress to order Americans to buy health insurance--a mandate included in both the House and Senate versions of the health care bill--Pelosi dismissed the question by saying: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

Pelosi's press secretary later responded to written follow-up questions from CNSNews.com by emailing CNSNews.com a press release on the “Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform,” that argues that Congress derives the authority to mandate that people purchase health insurance from its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce.

The exchange with Speaker Pelosi on Thursday occurred as follows:

CNSNews.com: “Madam Speaker, where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?”

Pelosi: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

CNSNews.com: “Yes, yes I am.”

Pelosi then shook her head before taking a question from another reporter. Her press spokesman, Nadeam Elshami, then told CNSNews.com that asking the speaker of the House where the Constitution authorized Congress to mandated that individual Americans buy health insurance as not a "serious question."

“You can put this on the record,” said Elshami. “That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question.”

When pressed later by the reporter, Pelosi's office replied in an e-mail that Pelosi believes that the Commerce Clause gives Congress the power to force us all to buy health insurance, basically because just they've used it for so many other things.

Later on Thursday, CNSNews.com followed up on the question, e-mailing written queries for the speaker to her Spokesman Elshami.

“Where specifically does the Constitution authorize Congress to force Americans to purchase a particular good or service such as health insurance?” CNSNews.com asked the speaker's office.

“If it is the Speaker’s belief that there is a provision in the Constitution that does give Congress this power, does she believe the Constitution in any way limits the goods and services Congress can force an individual to purchase?" CNSNews.com asked. "If so, what is that limit?”

Elshami responded by sending CNSNews.com a Sept. 16 press release from the Speaker’s office entitled, “Health Insurance Reform, Daily Mythbuster: ‘Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform.’” The press release states that Congress has “broad power to regulate activities that have an effect on interstate commerce. Congress has used this authority to regulate many aspects of American life, from labor relations to education to health care to agricultural production.”

The release further states: “On the shared responsibility requirement in the House health insurance reform bill, which operates like auto insurance in most states, individuals must either purchase coverage (and non-exempt employers must purchase coverage for their workers)—or pay a modest penalty for not doing so. The bill uses the tax code to provide a strong incentive for Americans to have insurance coverage and not pass their emergency health costs onto other Americans—but it allows them a way to pay their way out of that obligation. There is no constitutional problem with these provisions.”

Pelosi then compares it to forcing people to buy auto insurance, only she omits the fact that auto insurance, unlike her "Pelosicare", is not required of people who don't own or drive cars. If the Democrats' legislation is passed however, it be the first time in the history of our country that every single person is required to buy something as a condition of being a citizen of this country. Worse, it forces us all to buy something that they, Congress, will regulate and control.

And of course let us not forget that they still want to keep their own, better insurance. They have voted down multiple amendments which would have required them to joins us in this national heath care nightmare. Typical. Good enough for us, but not good enough for them. "Public servants" my ass.

This is not the America that our founding fathers set up. Nancy Pelosi and everyone else in Congress who have just voted to pass this bill without ever letting us read it, and in most cases, without reading it themselves, need to be dragged out of the Capitol, coated with tar and feathers, and kicked out of the District of Columbia permanently.

Color me officially jealous.

Per this article at Military.com News, Our troops in Afghanistan have got a new machine gun, the MK 48, made by (who else?) Fabrique Nationale. In use by Navy SEALs since 2000, this bad motor scooter fires the 7.62x51mm cartridge at a rate of up to 700 rounds per minute but weighs in at just 18.5 pounds!This comes about because our troops are finding the standard M240B to be too heavy to lug around the mountains at 27.5 pounds. And in a region where firepower counts, the need for a lighter gun capable of laying it down is only self-evident. The best gun in the world isn't any good if it gets left behind because it weighs too much to carry.

And yes, I'm jealous. Much as I love The Beast here, this World War Two-era Browning 1919A4 weighs in at 28 pounds for the gun alone, and that jumps to about forty-two pounds when you factor in the required tripod, pintle and T&E mechanism.
Hell, I get tired just pulling it out of the safe. And then there's the added weight of the ammo belts, spare barrels, and basic tools needed to keep any machine gun running...it's no wonder that the quest for ever-lighter guns goes on.

However, as much as I'd love to be able to trade the old Browning in on a newer, lighter FN gun just to reduce the weight penalty, I realize that our troops' needs come first, and getting them as many guns as possible is a priority. Unfortunately, we have a handful of jerks in the Senate who apparently don't agree. According to this article in the Washington Times, a band of senators both Democrat and Republican have just diverted 2.6 BILLION dollars out of the current defense spending appropriation--specifically from an appropriation intended to buy new guns and ammo for our troops. They've steered this money away from our men and women on the battlefield and into their own pet pork projects.

Stolen from our troops was $20 million that was requested by Sen. John Kerry for a new library in Massachusetts to be named for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. This of course has nothing to do with the military, won't help troop one, and the Kennedy family has more than enough money to pay for this out of their own pockets so it's particularly upsetting to see money taken from our troops for this monument to a dead Democrat.

$25 million more was siphoned off by Louisiana's two senators, Mary Landrieu(D) and David Vitter(R) for another World War two museum in New Orleans. Hel-lo! There's already one there. Why the hell do our soldiers have to go without in order to build a second one, and why do we have to loot our military budget during a war to pay for it?

And then there's the $20 million for Humvee maintenance at an Army National Guard installation in Maine, sponsored by Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe, the two turncoat Republicans who have been voting with the Dems on just about everything. Apparently their reward is not the traditional thirty pieces of silver that one pays a Judas but a whole steamer trunk full of cash, ostensibly to keep a vehicle maintenance facility going way the hell up in one of the most remote parts of our country, about as far away from most of our nation's Humvees as it could possibly be. But what is efficiency and combat readiness compared to being able to brag to Maine voters that their two RINO senators have the Dem leadership's favor?

It goes on and gets worse. Hell, with the bunch of self-serving thieves that we have in Congress today, it's a wonder that our troops aren't still expected to do the job with ancient Browning MG's like mine. But elections are coming around in 13 months, people...I say that we toss every one of these jerks out. 535 homeless chosen at random from inner-city shelters could hardly do worse, so let's replace the current crop, starting with the leadership--Sen. Harry Reid(D)--Nevada and Rep. Nancy Pelosi(D)--California.

And just maybe the new batch will consider lifting the 1986 ban on civilian purchases of new machine guns so that I actually can replace The Beast with something a little newer. Now that's change we can hope for!

And we wonder why Congress won't crack down on Illegal Immigration...

Congressman's son caught smuggling immigrants

TUCSON, AZ - The son of a U.S. Congressman was arrested in Willcox Sunday, charged with human smuggling. According to court documents John F. Boyd, son of Democratic Florida Congressman Allen Boyd, attempted to drive through a Border Patrol checkpoint in Willcox on Sunday with five illegal immigrants, including a 6-year-old girl.

In a statement sent Tuesday, Congressman Allen Boyd said, "On September 14, 2008, my 30-year-old son, John Boyd, was arrested in Arizona, and at a preliminary hearing yesterday, he was charged with alien smuggling."

"This is a family matter that my family and I will be dealing with privately. John is a grown man and must face the consequences for his actions, but he has the love and support of his family," says the elder Boyd.

A criminal complaint states, "At the primary inspection area, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the possible presence of illegal aliens in the bed of the truck. A primary inspection agent approached the truck and saw an individual hiding under a piece of plywood in the bed of the truck."

According to court documents the illegal immigrants said they were to pay Boyd $3,000 each to be smuggled into the United States and transported to their final destination.

Court documents also state that the vehicle contained, "two plastic bags that contained several rocks of crystal methamphetamine, four unopened syringes, a spoon with white residue and burn marks on the bottom, and three knives. A further search of the vehicle revealed a Beretta 22LR pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition and a spare magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition in a suitcase in the bed of the truck."

Boyd is expected in federal court on Wednesday.

Pity the Congressman's kid didn't get caught with that gun on the Mexican side of the border. He'd be in more trouble there for that then he'll likely be here for smuggling illegals and possessing drugs.

Wonder if this'll get as much attention as any of Sarah Palins' family matters...you know, the non-criminal stuff that the Obama people have been pushing around?

Webb now says "It wasn't my gun..."

According to the latest Washington Post story, Senator Webb has just thrown his loyal staffer under the bus, refusing to say who the gun belonged to and refuting earlier reports that it was his gun.

"I have never carried a gun in the Capitol complex, and I did not give the weapon to Phillip Thompson," Webb said. "We had three cars on Friday that were being moved about because of my trip, and that is probably a reason that this inadvertent situation developed . . . and that's really all I can say."

So Webb's apparently letting Thompson take the fall here, even though it still appears that it was in fact Webb's own .45 1911 pistol. That's cold. I hope Thompson likes those baloney sandwiches that they serve in the DC Jail. I wonder if Webb will visit him there?

Do as we say, not as we do?

In what's currently being described as "breaking news", US Capitol Police today arrested Philip Thompson, aide to Virginia's Democratic Senator Jim Webb, after he was caught bringing a loaded, unregistered gun and spare ammunition into the Russell Senate Office Building. Per News Channel 8, Thompson does not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but even if he did, no one is allowed to carry or possess a firearm in the District of Columbia. The last time that a legislative aide was arrested for this, it was also a Democratic Party staffer. That one was an employee of Senator Ted Kennedy.

What is it with these Democrats? They force gun control down everyone else's throats but then they ignore it when it comes to their personal actions. They want all of us unarmed while they and they alone carry guns? Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrat.

Newbie Congressman Keith Ellison starting trouble again.

What a jerk. First is was his insistence on swearing in using the Koran, and now this.

According to The Hill News Report, it seems that Freshman Congressman Keith Ellison--so new to Congress that he still needs a map to find the Mens' room--is already picking fights with veteran colleagues.

Congressman Tom Tancredo was suprised to have Capitol Police come to his office recently because Ellison, who was just assigned the office next door, called them to complain about Tancredo's cigar smoke.

Smoking is allowed in the offices, and one would think that Ellison could at least be man enough to go next door, introduce himself, and try to resolve the issue without bothering Capitol Police.

Per the report, Tancredo was still stunned a day later. “It’s very bizarre,” said Tancredo, who has never met Ellison. “Seemed to me not a good way to say hello.”

Not very manly, either--calling the police without going over yourself first, introducing yourself, and trying to work things out. But what do you expect from a guy who one was (still is?) a member of Louis Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam"--a racist and anti-semetic prison press gang that masquerades as a religious group?

I don't know why they put Ellison next to Congressman Tancredo. They should have put his office next to West Virginia's own Senator Robert "Sheets" Byrd, (D)--KKK. At least those two would have something in common.

How pathetic-- Freshman Congressman acts like punk at White House.

Residents of Appleton, Wisconsin sure have reason to be proud of their newly-elected Congressman Steven Kagen...at least the immature ones do.

This guy recently spoke before a group of his anti-war constituents and bragged about his boorish behavior during his first visit to the White House after he was graciously invited there.

According to the story, first reported by his own hometown newspaper Valley Scene, he boasts of first encountering Karl Rove in the men's room. Kagen claimed that as Rove attempted to leave, he [Kagen] blocked the door shut so that Rove couldn't exit and said, “You’re in the White House and you think your safe, huh? You recognize me? My name’s Dr. Multimillionaire and I kicked your ass.” Then he followed Rove down the hall and badgered him about some legislation that he wanted passed. He then told his admiring whack-job audience about how he then spotted Vice President Cheney and went out of his way to confront the Vice-President and make some childish remarks about how he [Kagen] could not have won his close election but for the V.P. campaigning in his district for the other guy. And then he launched into an anti-war tirade and tried his hardest to belittle Cheney. He kept at this until he was given a chance to have his picture taken with the President, at which point he proudly told everyone how he walked up to the President of the United States in the White House and spewed some of the same punk comments about the election at President Bush that he'd already hurled at Rove and Cheney. Then to top it off, he claims that he deliberately called the President's wife "Barbara" instead of addressing her as Mrs. President or even her actual name--Laura. As Kagen himself reported it: "Then I go to his wife, ‘Hi Barbara, how are ya?’ I did that because I learned on the campaign that the meanest thing you can say to another gentlemen is, ‘he’s a fine fellow,’ and you then refer to his spouse by a different name.”"

So this dork gets an invite to the White House that was offered in the spirit of conciliation and cooperation, and all he does is roam around acting like a total dick. Then he goes home and brags about it and expects people to look up to him.

Well that might happen on a playground, but few adults are going to appreciate his conduct. And his constituents should expect that any legislation that he offers is as good as vetoed, and I hope that it happens. Now in all honesty, it may not, because unlike Steven Kagen, our President is a class act and he can overlook it when an immature novice legislator feels the need to act a fool to impress a dozen radical lefties and perhaps a few grade-school bullies in his district. All I can do is applaud the President for not snatching Kagen up by the collar and hurling him right out the White House door into Pennsylvania Avenue. God knows that I would have done so. It's probably a good thing that I'm not the President, because if some jackass nobody like Kagen had disrespected me and my family and friends in my house, I'd have put my foot so far up his ass that he'd be burping up shoeleather.

Oh--and apparently he plagerized another legislator's website when he ran for office too. But what can you expect from this guy? As fond as the President is of assigning nicknames to people, he should call Kagen "recess" from now on because the Freshman from Wisconsin's got no class.

That old wheel just keeps turning on Dems' claims of a "culture of corruption"

Well today is 6-6-6, so I guess that means that we should talk about Democrats.


It's ironic and it would be funny if it was not so indicative of the state of our nation's leadership, but it was only a few months ago that the Dems were gleefully using the phrase "culture of corruption" to describe the Republican party, and predicting big wins this year by portraying themselves as something completely different. But that old wheel of fate just keeps on turning, and now the stage lights are focused on several prominent Democrats, all of whom have acted and continue to act as if they are entitled to special treatment well beyond that which you or I would get if we did what they did.

We've still got Cynthia McKinney (D)--GA awaiting indictment on charges of assaulting a Capitol Hill police officer. Any one of us would have been arrested on the spot for that but not McKinney, who has a history of other run-ins with law enforcement and white people in general. She's apparently special because she's a congressman. She of course refuses to resign or apologize.

Then we go to Patrick Kennedy (D)--Rhode Island. He drives into a barricade at the US Capitol at 3AM, shortly after he was seen at a local bar. He smelled of alcoholic beverages and gave every appearance of being drunk to the initial responding officers but police supervisors arrive, dismiss those officers, and drive Kennedy home without the breath test that any one of us would have gotten. Next thing we hear is that he's checking into an exclusive rehab center again, and in this politcally-correct world of ours, that means that the entire incident is now off-limits to our inquiries forever. Must be nice to have the money and connections to skate on a DUI. But even though Kennedy has just spent the last month sitting in a clinic waiting for the media attention to die off, we're still paying him just as if he was actually at work and he refuses to resign or apologize for accepting this special treatment.


William Jefferson (D)--Louisiana comes up next. This is the guy caught on tape accepting a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant. These were marked bills of course, and $90,000 of them were subsequently found in his home freezer when the FBI raided his house. Two people, including one of his former congressional aides, are already in prison after pleading guilty to bribing him in relation to a plan requiring him to use his influence in congress to get a new business started in Nigeria--a business that was to have been run in part by his adult children as another incentive. Not only is he unrepentant, he's screaming mad because the FBI raided his office even though they had a warrant issued by a federal judge. He won't apologize or resign or even explain himself, and Nancy Pelosi, the fringe loony minority leader who might actually become Speaker of the House if Dems ever retake congress, attacks the FBI for treating Jefferson like an ordinary person and executing the warrant.

John Conyers (D)--Detroit. The guy whose only apparent congressional function is to put a bill in every year demanding a check for every black person in America as reparations for slavery is now on the hook in Michigan for forcing his congressional aides to babysit, chauffeur and tutor his children. He's also made them work on campaigns for candidates for local office, and both of these are illegal and now are under investigation by the House ethics committee. Of course he refuses to apologize or step down.


Harry Reid (D)--Nevada. The Senate minority leader who coined the phrase "culture of corruption" was caught accepting free ringside tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission to three professional boxing matches while that state agency was trying to influence him on federal regulation of boxing. Reid took the free seats for Las Vegas fights between 2003 and 2005 as he was pressing legislation to increase government oversight of the sport. Rather than apologize to his constituents, he defended the gifts, saying they would never influence his position on the bill and was simply trying to learn how his legislation might affect an important home state industry. "Anyone from Nevada would say I'm glad he is there taking care of the state's No. 1 businesses," he said. "I love the fights anyways, so it wasn't like being punished," added the senator.

Alan Mollohan (D)--West Virginia. He's been caught directing federal grants to non-profit groups in WV while entering real estate deals with top officials of the groups. The congressman's personal wealth jumped and he became a millionaire in just a couple of years but he won't explain how he did that and rather than apologize,Mollohan has defended his actions as designed to bring economic development to his district. He won't resign, but at least he had to step down as the top Democrat on the House ethics committee.


Francine Busby (D)--candidate from California. This wanna-be Dem is running for Congress in a special election to be voted on today in San Diego. This past weekend she was speaking at a gathering of Hispanic day laborers trying to get them involved in the election. When one laborer stated that he wanted to help but then admitted that he had no papers, meaning that he was in our country illegally, Busby told him "That's ok. You don't need any papers to vote." WTF?! This Democrat just told a room full of illegal aliens that they could still go to the polls on election day and stand in line with US citizens to vote. She is also reportedly paying for campaign ads on behalf of an independent candidate in the race, trying to trick the conservative voters who will never vote for her into voting for someone other than her GOP opponent Brian Bilbray. Not only is it unheard of for one candidate to pay for ads for another in an attempt to beat a third, but it's also illegal if she spent more than $2,000 on those ads, which she clearly did. But she's obviously willing to pay a fine or face other sanctions later once she's in office and immune from punishment. To this Dem, winning is all that matters. Legality and ethical behavior don't factor in.

Most ironically Busby is seeking to replace ousted Congressman Randy Cunningham in a special election. Cunningham pled guilty to bribery, and unlike any of the above rats, he came clean when questioned, resigned from office, and cooperated fully with investigators. He also apologized profusely to his family, his constituents, and the voters of America. He was as wrong as any of the above, but at least he had the character to admit it and take his punishment like a man when he was caught. Democrats could take a lesson from this man.


Note: Imprisoned former Congressman Jim Trafficant (D)--Ohio, still says that he plans to run for his old seat as soon as he finishes his sentence. He was convicted of accepting bribes too, and like the other Democrats, he refused to apologize, explain or resign.

And he was convicted the same week that former senator Robert Torricelli (D)--NJ was convicted by the Senate Ethics Committee of improperly accepting gifts that were meant as bribes. But he was just allowed to walk away and withdraw from his re-election efforts. He didn't get punished and he's since been linked to the Iraqi Oil-for-Food scandal. And of course he won't explain or aplogize for either of these "ethical lapses" either.

I guess that in order to be a good Democrat you have to believe that you are above the rest of the country to the extent that you honestly feel that it would be beneath you to either explain your actions or accept responsibility for them when you get caught breaking the trust that your voters put in you. And resign and give up all that money and power? Never! But you'll sure demand that any Republican who is even accused of jaywalking resign, won't you?
