Election report from New Orleans

So last night, I went to an election-watching party at the home of a casual friend who, not surprisingly, was a die-hard Hillary fan. Also not surprisingly, everyone else there was a Hillary fan, too. I wasn't going to go at first, but then I caught the first round of poll results and wondered if maybe...just maybe...

If Hillary did lose, watching it happen with a yard full of her loyalists would be freaking epic.

Besides, there was free food and booze at this party.

So I went over, and I enjoyed some good food and drank several nice craft beers, which were plentiful because they had a pretty good victory party planned. Every time some little socialist east-coast blue state would declare for Hillary, they'd cheer and shout "270! 270!" It was going to go all night and they were rolling. But then North Carolina happened. And Florida. suddenly the cheering died away. Virginia came so close that people were noticing the obvious: Hillary's voters weren't turning out in the urban cores, but Trump's sure were in the rural areas. Ohio went Trump, and there was shock and anxiety now. Could it happen? Could Trump hit 270 and take it?

I just popped the top off another tasty craft beer and watched.

Then Pennsylvania went from blue to red as Trump took the lead. So did Michigan. Now they were worried and getting a bit drunk. A couple of women in particular began to cry and to scream obscenities. Then WISCONSIN?! Didn't see that one coming. They were buoyed for a brief bit as New Mexico and Colorado were predicted for Hillary, but then Utah and Arizona went "probably Trump" and Pennsylvania was called for Trump.

Damn, those beers were good. It was the only thing keeping me from smugging.

Everybody left at around 1 Central Time. The mood was positively funereal. I thanked my sad host as he unplugged the big TV and headed home myself, after asking if I could take a few of the left-over beers with me, since no one else seemed to be drinking them.

I got home shortly thereafter and watched the coverage for a bit, and when I was sure that we weren't going to get any surprises, I went to bed, only to be awakened like three hours later by the first text crowing about the results. (Thanks, Aaron.)

I got up and surfed the local news forums, and the despair and outrage were everywhere. Everyone was shocked, and angry at everyone else who did not vote for Hillary. I went in to work, and it was evident there, too. Most of where I work is pretty liberal and big on crap like global warming and diversity so you can figure out where they stood. But me and a few like-minded individuals exchanged smug grins all morning.

Later, I went across the river to the West Bank and the more rural areas in Barataria and Jean Lafitte. The smug was everywhere there. Practically every old cajun was walking around with a satisfied grin, eager to ask me how I was doing. And I smiled back and told them all that I was doing great.

Now I'm home again. I'm happy but tired. I think I'm going to have me a craft beer or two and hit the hay. Heh.

Virginia Dem Voters Elect Incarcerated Pedophile To State House

Virginia's Joe Morressey, a disbarred former attorney and Democrat legislator who was recently forced to resign his seat as part of a plea bargain after being charged with molesting a 17-year old intern in his office, just stuck his finger in the court's eye and ran for the same seat, this time as an independent...and Virginia's half-witted electorate just re-elected him despite the fact that he's currently spending every night in the Henrico County Jail as part of his sentence.

Oh--and he's an avowed anti-gunner too, but then most child molesters tend to fear guns in the hands of the citizenry...probably something to do with not wanting to be shot by a parent of one of their victims when caught in the act.

Seriously, folks...this is what happens when the reality-TV voters all show up at the polls and the responsible voters don't.

I voted.

I did my part as a citizen today. I tried to save America by making the best choices available to me, so from now on, the blame for everything bad falls on the low-information voters who make choices without thinking them through and the lame-os who won't bother voting at all.

Our only big race here is a US Senate seat, a race between Shelley Moore-Capito, a fairly conservative woman, and Natalie Tennant, an Obama supporter who refuses to admit voting for him. Moore-Capito is NRA "A" rated and opposes Obamacare; Tennant brought liberal whack-job (and fake indian) Elizabeth Warren in to campaign for her. Moore-Capito is still a bit squishy on illegals, but the only other choice is Tennant, who won't say where she stands. Tennant does brag about being pro-gun in her ads, but the truth is that, if elected, she'll vote for Harry Reid or some other gun-hater for Senate Majority Leader and like all good party members who want to stay in favor, she'll toe his line when it comes down to crunch time. This race is important because the candidates are different, so I voted for gun rights, protection from illegals, and smaller government. And if Moore-Capito wins and doesn't stand up for these things, I'll vote against her next time around. I will be watching.

Marylanders! Vote for Larry Hogan and there will be AR-15s everywhere!

Don't know about you, but when I saw that ad, my first impulse was to move to Maryland just to vote FOR Hogan.

I'm thinking that this ad isn't exactly going to help Brown out in the majority of Maryland where all of the non-liberals live. But then when you don't have any sort of record of positive accomplishments or any sort of plan for if you win, maybe this is the best that Brown can manage. Well, that and claim that your poor campaign performance notwithstanding, anyone who doesn't vote for you hates black people.

Good luck, Larry Hogan. Maryland gun owners, if you screw this one up...

Yes Virginia, you have a choice to make

Tomorrow is election day in Virginia, and this one is for all the marbles as far as the Governor's race goes.

On one side, there is Ken Cuccinelli. Ken is the state'e Attorney General presently and he's served Virginians well as a steward of their gun rights and as a guardian against the infestation of illegal aliens that is plaguing Virginia and many other states currently. He's been a consistent advocate for lower taxes, smaller government and individual property rights, and he's always been a supporter of the police and veterans. He's been a model conservative in most every way and Virginia and America would be well served by his political ascension in this swing state.

Across from Cuccinelli is the career politician and perpetual scandal known as Terry McAuliffe, a man who first came to prominence as the one who sold overnights in the White House Lincoln Bedroom to Democrat donors in exchange for campaign contributions back during the Clinton Administration. He's been involved in numerous scandals and ethical faux pas over the years and he's gotten rich mainly through back-room deals involving shady companies like Global Crossings and Greentech. I'll leave you to research those because his minions have pretty well sanitized the Wikipedia articles on those scandals. He's a big-government advocate who loves Obamacare (although he refrained from talking about it at his campaign event last night) and he's an unabashed foe of guns and gun owners, bragging about his NRA F rating. (Cuccinelli has an A.) McAuliffe has pledged to end Virginia's status as a "right-to-work" state and open it up to unions who are currently some of his biggest financial backers. He's also all about giving illegals pretty much everything they want as he, like most Democrats, sees them not as criminals or trespassers but as future Democrat voters. A McAuliffe victory would be bad for Virginia and bad for America.

Further complicating matters is a Libertarian wrench in the works named Robert Sarvis. Sarvis is really more liberal than libertarian (even crazy old Ron Paul endorsed Cuccinelli over Sarvis this year) and he's little more than a kid, being still in his 30s. Still, he's reported sucking about 9% of the votes in this close, close race, undeniably harming Cuccinelli more than McAuliffe. Robert Sarvis can't win, but he can take enough votes from Cuccinelli to give the victory to McAuliffe and the forces of evil that have hitched their wagons to his star.

Folks, if you live in Virginia or know someone that does, it's imperative that you get out there for Cuccinelli
and help him carry the day. He needs every vote, and if he doesn't get them, we'll all see Virginia slide from the red column into the blue one, and America can't afford that, much less the people in Virginia. So get out there and vote, and reach out to others who can vote in Virginia, and please--if you know someone who is planning to piss away a vote on that Sarvis kid to "send a message" or for whatever other reason that some people use to justify throwing away a valid vote on an unelectable and unqualified candidate, smack some sense into them and get them to do the right thing for Virginia tomorrow.

This race is important, people. This one's a watershed, and if we don't win it tomorrow, we'll pay for our loss for decades to come.

Colorado state senators recalled over gun control support

TWO anti-gun Democrat State Senators, including the President of the Senate, were just knocked off in a recall election brought about by gun owners angry over their leading the charge to pass Colorado's asinine new gun laws. Both Senators John Morse and Angela Giron lost their seats, effective immediately, despite anti-gun toadies from all over the country parachuting in to go door-to-door for them and Michael Bloomberg of New York giving them three million dollars. They lost their seats in Democrat-leaning districts to boot, and this morning, you can believe that gun-hating legislators all across the country are looking at this result and asking themselves if it's worth their seats to stand up and identify with the anti-gun cause.

Nice job, Colorado grass-roots gun owners. You socked it to them good.

West Virginia's Sell-out Senator seduced by anti-gun money

Joe Manchin, the former Governor of West Virginia, who ran for the Senate by touting his pro-gun credentials and who even made a campaign commercial showing himself shooting a rifle at a copy of the Obamacare bill (which he then voted for once he was safely in office), is now taking money from anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg.

Manchin, a Democrat from Republican-leaning West Virginia, led the Senate’s push for a bill to expand background checks on private gun sales earlier this year in the wake of the mass shooting last December in Newtown, Conn. Manchin’s bill, co-sponsored by Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, failed despite backing from the White House and Bloomberg’s own group, Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns.

So now Judas gets his silver after supporting legislation that he knows that most of his constituents didn't want. And now it's up to every West Virginian to make sure that "Sell-out Joe" chokes on it every time he appears in public in this state.

I got this story last week from Bob over at Drawn Cutlass, but I wanted to wait until after the week-end to get it out there. COme on, West Virginians. Spread this news and let's make the next five years long ones indeed for our traitor senator.

Coloradan gun owners fighting to recall anti-gunners that the Libertarians elected.

Gun owners angry over the betrayal of Colorado State Senator John Morse turned in twice the number of signatures needed to force a recall election after he led the fight to pass Colorado's draconian new gun control legislation that took effect this spring. Now the battle's on, and Morse will be forced to defend his seat. A loss for Morse will send a message to other gun-banners in the legislature who come from districts with large numbers of shooters. However this fight will be long and expensive, and both sides are clamoring from money from all across the country.

I have to point out that this never needed to happen in the first place.

Morse only won by some 400 votes in 2010, with 1300 other votes going to a not-going-to-win Libertarian; in effect, those votes were never even cast in the actual race.

Owen Hill (R) 13,526
Douglas W. Randall (L) 1,320

Had 1320 people used their heads and cast votes that made sense, Morse would never have been there to screw gun owners in 2012.

Likewise, Another State Senator, Evie Hudak, only won her race in November because the Libertarians gave 6.7% of the vote to some guy who wasn't even competitive, allowing Hudak to top the Republican in the race by one percentage point.

Sadly, a similar effort to recall Hudak appears to have failed, so she's there to stay, courtesy of her anti-gun Democrat base and the Libertarian Party.

Votes have consequences, people. Voting is important. And when you cast a ballot in a close two-person race and throw it away on some third person who has absolutely no chance just because you want to make some sort of "statement", you basically refuse to vote. It's as if you just decided not to stand up and stop the bad guy.

So Colorado got saddled with bad laws because too many people decided not to bother opposing the anti-gunners, and now the rest of the state has to pay for that apathy/arrogance/stupidity. I wish the Colorado gun owners well with their recall against Morse, but I have to point out for the record that it didn't have to come to this in the first place. Even half of those 1,320 silly Libertarians could have prevented this two years beforehand, but they chose not to.

Sunday Thoughts

Sundays kinda suck just a bit these days.

For years now, almost every Sunday without fail, my father and I would talk on the phone, one of us calling that other. The first question: "How you doing?"
The second: "So, you go to church today?"
Both of us over the years had our issues with going to church, but these last few years saw us both making it almost every week unless illness or work got in the way. So we'd talk about that for a bit, and then we'd usually talk about my nephew, The Spud, for a bit. I'm missing those Sunday calls right now.

Believe it or not, some of you other bloggers would come up quite a bit during those calls. He always loved Brigid's blog, and the videos on Peter's site were getting to be a close second favorite of his, followed by the posts on Rev. Paul's blog and the military and travel stories on Old NFO's. He followed a lot of the folks on my sidebar and my first reaction when I find neat stuff on some of your sites is still: "Oh, I have so got to send that to Pop..." And then I catch myself.

He was never very political when I was growing up, but these last few years, he was all about getting rid of Obama. I know that he'd have turned out for this one and doing his part to turn Michigan red again.

And in that vein, I went out to try early voting yesterday only to find a line that was an hour and a half long, per the security guards at the door at the courthouse. That was too long for me because I had somewhere else to be, but I WILL be voting on Tuesday for sure, if for no other reason than because I saw two people there whom I know full well to be hard-core Democrats and it will by my goal on election day to get to my local polling place and cancel one of them out. How about you? Can I count on you out there to cancel the other one out? This election is too important to sit it out or to waste a vote on some non-electable third party. Gary Johnson is not in this race and a vote for him is a vote that could have gone to defeat Obama yet did not. Like Romney or not, this is about removing Obama, period. I'm only lukewarm on Romney myself but I would cast a ballot for Mussolini or Pol Pot to get Obama out of my White House and away from the seat of total power. we can always fight the next knucklehead tomorrow but we've got to get rid of the Kenyan Poser first. So get out there on Tuesday if you haven't cast a ballot already, and oppose Obama with the only thing that can stop him: a vote for Mitt Romney.

If Obama wins in November, this is why.

I'm far from being a Howard Stern fan, but I'll cite him in this instance. He and his crew went out walking the streets of Harlem to interview people about who they plan to vote for in November. The ignorance of these people is truly stunning.

In that one interview, we have people who think that Paul Ryan is Obama's running mate, people who think that John McCain and/or Sarah Palin are running against Obama this year, people who think that Obama is Pro-Life, and people who think that Mitt Romney is black. Oh, and not one of them knows that bin Laden is dead yet. Seriously. None of them know that Osama bin Laden is dead.

This sums up the problem with elections today. There are whole communities out there where no one listens to the news or reads a paper. Harlem, NY is a good example but most big cities have ghetto neighborhoods that are just like that, and I'm sure there are a few rural patches like that out there somewhere, too. And while I support the right of people to be as ignorant as they want to be, the sad fact is that each and every one of these morons gets a vote that is equal to (and usually cancels out) your and mine. As you can hear in the interview, every one of these virtual retards is an enthusiastic Obama supporter, and believe me, Obama and the Democrats know how to find them and get pretty much each and every one of them to the polls on election day even if it means going out in vans, picking them up, driving them to the polling places and handing them a list of people to vote for. They do it every election and in close races it makes a difference.

Our Founding Fathers never meant for every single person in the United States to have a say in elections. They limited it to white male land owners originally. Now while I'm not that saying that we go back to those standards, I would support a system by which only those who are functional, contributing members of society be allowed to vote. I'd be open to restricting the vote to the following:

People with at least a high school diploma or GED.
People who are serving or have served honorably in the military.
People who have a job and pay taxes.

It goes without saying that I'd want them to prove that they are actual US citizens as well.

I would also specifically bar people who are on welfare, people who are in prison or jail, and people who have been convicted of a felony. These aren't the ones that I want determining the direction that our country takes as it moves forward into the 21st century.

It does us no good as a nation to the the counsel of the least-intelligent, least-fit among us. Eventually they become a voting bloc or even a majority of the voters (like we're starting to see now) and then the rest of us are screwed. We need reforms, and we need to keep the lazy, the stupid, and the criminally-inclined people away from the ballot box.

Of course this will never happen when the Democrats have a say, because these people are their core constituency and they know it and pander to them to keep and keep their votes.

It's times like this that I fear for my country.

Credit where it's due

So this afternoon, I'm walking around downtown Charles Town and I see a small crowd on the sidewalk across the street in front of the barber shop. Now me being me, I wander over to see what's going on, and what do I find but a bunch of people wearing "John Raese for Senate" shirts all surrounding one Joe Manchin.

Manchin, for those of you not from around here, is the former Governor of West Virginia and it's newest senator.

Sen. Manchin was being loudly harangued by two men in particular, one wearing a "Raese" shirt. This guy was loud and obnoxious and he stormed off and went down the block about the time that I got over there so I missed any points that he had other than some apparent belief that Manchin had no business being here while the Democratic National Convention is going on in North Carolina. (Most of us who pay attention know that Manchin does his best to distance himself from the wildly unpopular Barack Obama every chance that he gets so it's not really a surprise that he's here this week.)

The other guy appeared to just be one of those free-range crotchety old men who sit on benches outside barber shops all day. He was going on and on about KAL 007, the jetliner that was shot down back in 1983.

To his credit, Joe Manchin was polite and respectful to both of these guys and didn't even try to make an excuse to walk away from him like politicians so often do when they're confronted by someone who disagrees with them. Manchin sat right there, responding to them respectfully and basically being the bigger man.

Now full disclosure--I'm going to be supporting Raese just because I want the Dems out of majority control of the US Senate. Manchin, though a moderate Dem, is still a Dem who will vote to retain Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader or some other tool if Reid decides not to run for it again. He's also much more conducive to Obama's agenda than John Raese will be. I will be voting for Raese this year, not just because I think that Manchin's party is bad news for America but because I believe that Raese with his private-sector business experience is the better man for the job. But that said, I still have to give Manchin props for the way that he handled himself today.

Walker Wins Wisconsin! America Wins Overall!

The election has been called for Governor Walker in Wisconsin.

The recall attempt put forth by bitter union goons trying to bite the hands of the taxpayers that feed them has failed. There are unconfirmed reports that Leftist talking head Ed "Special Ed" Schultz has been hospitalized for trying to commit suicide in his bathroom by slamming the toilet seat on his own head until he lost consciousness. All across America, conservatives and fans of smaller government are cheering, while union thugs and their puppets in the Obama administration are still trying to figure out what just happened to their 50-state effort to defeat an elected official from a Blue State who dared try to force public employees in that state to pay for just a small part of their own pensions and health benefits. The hope of much of America--and fear of useless union drones everywhere--is that other governors and state legislatures may now feel emboldened enough to try to cut back the lavish lifestyles of their own civil servant class or even take steps to end the corrupt bargains between unionized government workers, their money-raisers and the legislators who take that money and then vote to raise the wages of those unionized government workers.

Heck, even Liberal standard-bearer and union icon Franklin D. Roosevelt was opposed to collective bargaining for public employees. So how can anyone, least of all today's union drones, hate on Governor Walker for working to carry out FDR's ideals?

But the public employee unions lost today and lost big. They spent millions of dollars trying to sway voters and turn out their base, only to have the educated, informed working people of Wisconsin turn out in even larger numbers and slap them down.

I'm happy tonight. Even Murphy is doing a happy dance. Tomorrow's dawn will shine bright on a new and improved day for the American taxpayer. Today Wisconsin, tomorrow the rest of America!

Spoken the people have....Mmmmmmm

Even Yoda would have loved the results of yesterday's special elections. In both New York and Nevada, the GOP wrested seats away from the Dems in races that were largely considered referendums on The Big Zero, Obama.

And this came despite dirty tricks by Nevada's Dem Secretary of State, Ross Miller, who declared this to be an open ballot election, which would have drawn multiple Republicans — a scenario Democrats had hoped would divide the GOP vote enough to allow a single Democratic candidate to win. But the GOP took the case to the State Supreme Court, arguing that they had a right to select their own candidate via a party primary race, and the Court agreed, swatting down Miller's chicanery. With the election made fair again, the Dems had no chance and they knew it.

In New York, Bob Turner, a first-time political candidate beat a career Democrat in a heavily Democrat-infested district for Anthony "let-me-show-you-my" Weiner's old seat. That race was all about Obama and even the loser, David Weprin, tried to distance himself from Barackus Failus, but alas, he couldn't pull it off and had to run with Obama standing on his coattails. And Obama, who has a 54% disapproval rate among likely voters in that district, was clearly an albatross if ever there was one as even the fact that registered Dems outnumber Republicans by a 3-to-1 majority in that district wasn't enough to save him.

Americans are speaking, folks. And what they are saying is that they want Obama and his policies stopped. They obviously aren't blaming the Republicans for our current economy no matter what Obama and his pet media lapdogs keep saying or else they would not have handed these two seats to the GOP in landslides.

More and more, 2012 is looking like it's going to be an interesting year, isn't it, folks?

First report out of South Carolina... Democrat Alvin Greene just lost to Republican Jim DeMint for Senate. No surprise, but we'll miss Greene if only for the comedy relief.

Looks like Rand Paul(R) has the Kentucky Senate seat he was going for, and Dan Coats (R) just nabbed the Senate seat there for the GOP. R's are now up one.

In Connecticut...Richard Blumenthal--the guy who repeatedly lied about his military service--won the Senate seat...as a Dem, naturally. They're shameless and totally without honor, just like he is.

Delaware Senate--Coons takes it. It was O'Donnell's to lose and she sure lost it. Good ideas, but every time she opened her mouth...Of course her Republican primary foe undermining her early on didn't help either.

West Virginia Senate: Raese(R) v. Manchin(D). News is calling it for Manchin--the "I loved Obama's policies last year but hate them all now that I need votes" guy. Another phony takes a seat on the Dim side of the Senate.

South Carolina conserva-chick Nikki Haley is going to be the new Republican governor. Yes!

Florida House 8: Webster(R) v. Grayson(Lout). Grayson is the jerk who announced that the GOP health care plan was for sick people to die. He also put out some totally disgusting lies about his opponent in this race and generally acted like a tool over the past two years. But his day is done. Webster smoked him and Grayson is TOAST! Yay!

Oh--and Rubio will be the next Senator from Florida. Nice. Suck on that, Crist.

Michigan Governor: Snyder(R) v. Bernero(D). Looks like Snyder's taking it handily. The people in that state have clearly had enough of Dem-o-conomics courtesy of outgoing liberal Jenny Granholm.

Virginia's 5th House: Tom Perriello(D)--Obama butt-boy--is history. He was a one-term Dem who voted for Obamacare and Stimulus and boasted about it. Obama spent a lot of time campaigning for him...and he LOST! Smoke that, Barak.

Wisconsin's Russ Feingold(D) just lost his Senate seat. Good riddance.

California just re-seated Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown. America needs to just cut that damned third-world state off...at least the southern half of it.

Colorado's trying to be California, apparently giving it to Hickenlooper, an unapologetic Illegal Alien supporter, and Bennet, a serious lib. Idiots in that state had a chance to help save America, but they voted to keep driving us into the ditch instead. Must be all of that "medical" marijuana they're smoking. Wait--hold off on that--Buck may actually have come back and won it...it's too close to tell at the end.

Pennsylvania: Welcome, Senator Toomey! Obama's and Clinton's hard work for Sestak was for nothing as corrupt Arlen Specter's old seat falls to the GOP.

In Nevada Senate, it looks like letting the SEIU thugs count the votes paid off for Harry Reid...that and spending millions of slanderous personal attack ads and busing a lot of stupid people to the polls. Damn it.

Washington State: Murray(D) v. Rossi(R) still being contested. Come on, Dino. But Murray won six years ago in a squeaker due to a lot of "suspicious" votes and a Dem A.G. who refused to investigate. Will voter fraud pull her through again?

Alaska Senate race between Joe Miller(R) v. Lisa "voters can't fire me" Murkowski(Traitor) is still being undetermined, but apparently many Dems abandoned their guy and wrote ballots in. If she manages to come out ahead in the count, it'll be because of Dem interference and she should be shunned and ignored. And no matter what the result of Alaska's, Lisa "My Daddy gave me this seat" Murkowski needs to be tarred and feathered for spoiling the race or trying to.

All in all, the GOP swept the House and most of the open Governor's races and made gains in the Senate but didn't quite take it. Pelosi is back to some broom closet and John Boehner will be the new Speaker of the House. A new day is dawning and the grown-ups are going to be in charge of much of America now. Don't blow it GOP--you're on probation with many of us and this is your last chance.

"People too Stupid to be Allowed to Vote" award winner: Gail Westerfield

With the election of unemployed moron Alvin Greene to the US Senate race in the State of South Carolina with 60% of the vote despite his not even campaigning, many people are asking how that could possibly have happened. The answer is sadly simple: Idiots like Gail Westerfield.

“I voted for him because his name sounded like the singer and I’d never heard of Vic Rawl,” Gail Westerfield of Beaufort, South Carolina said. “I didn’t have name recognition– so I went with the person who had the most…famous name. It’s so bad.”

“I had just never heard of either of these guys and it never occurred to me that anything like this could happen or my vote and that this other person I was with who shall go nameless that our votes would contribute to South Carolina being the butt of a joke again. I mean, I feel terrible about it. I mean, we’re rivaling Florida now for the ridiculousness. I don’t feel good about being a part of that,” she said.

No, Gail, there's not really much of a valid comparison between a bunch of people who couldn't figure out a butterfly ballot (Democrat voters in Florida in 2000) but at least tried to cast a somewhat-informed vote with bona-fide retards like you who never bothered to learn fact one about either candidate but still felt the need to go to a polling place and cast a vote because one of them sounded similar to an R&B singer.

Seriously, I'd say "Gee, you're dumb" but I'm betting that you've been hearing that a lot your whole life, haven't you? People as stupid as you should not be allowed to vote or reproduce, Gail.

And on a macro scale, it's ignorant, uninformed voters like Gail Westerfield that foul up elections all over our country these days. With people like Gail Westerfield voting in larger numbers every election, I sincerely doubt that our Constitutionally-limited Republic will be able to survive the onslaught of careless/clueless democracy for much longer.

Heck, just look what we got for President in 2008. Anyone want to guess who Gail Westerfield voted for?

West Virginia voters are waking up! Corrupt Congressman Mollohan is GONE!!!

Na-na-na-na--Hey, heeey...Good-BYE!

West Virginia Congressman Alan Mollohan, long considered one of the most corrupt members of Congress, was booted by West Virginia voters in the Democrat primary race last night.

In 2006, the Justice Department opened an investigation of Mollohan that is believed to have focused on the rapid growth of his personal wealth and his pattern of securing federal funds for nonprofits he helped create.

Mollohan, 66, stepped down as the ranking Democrat on the House ethics committee that April and stepped aside in early 2007 from a subcommittee that handles funding for the Justice Department.

The investigation ended in January without comment or charges -- which Mollohan considered vindication.

Those of you who read my earlier articles on Mollohan--this one in particular--are, or course aware of the suspicious timing of his investigation being dropped, namely that it coincided with his sudden change from an opponent of Obamacare to a last-minute vote in favor of it.

It now looks as if the Obama machine was able to buy Mollohan's support, but once that had it, they were unable to save his seat...or perhaps they weren't concerned with trying seeing as how they'd already gotten what they needed from the guy.

This upset was a victory for conservatism and a repudiation of the Democrats' policy of "anything goes so long as we win", and it should make the remaining Dems worry about what's coming in November. You got the majority and used it to jam Obama's and Pelosi's agendas in our faces despite the opposition of most of the country, and in just a few months, the country's going to be in a position to start jamming back.

Now it just falls to the Republicans to not screw this up. Sadly, they have a history of screwing up and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but if--for once--they just hold true to the conservative ideals that have always worked for them in the past--ideals that most of America has always embraced--then just maybe we can blunt Obama's efforts to turn America into a leftist third-world welfare state and make our country back into something that the rest of the world envies and respects again.

And you wonder why we get unconstitutional legislation?

It's because we have legislators like Phil Hare,(D)-IL, who admits that he doesn't care about the U.S. Constitution then tries to quote it and shows that he doesn't know the difference between that document and the Declaration of Independence.


Hare is backpedaling now and trying to rewrite history on this episode, but a few things are undeniable. Hare, when asked how he could support such an unconstitutional bill, cuts the man off and says "I don't worry about the Constitution on this to be honest..."

"I care more about the people that are dying every day that don't have health insurance," Rep. Hare goes on to say.

"You care more about that than the Constitution you swore to uphold?" the man asks him.

"I believe it says we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," Rep. Hare tells him, quoting not the Constitution but the preamble of the Declaration of Independence.

To quote one of my earliest role models: "What a Maroon."

Now granted, some of Hare's questioners were a bit rude and disrespectful, but Hare didn't exactly rise above it as one might expect a Congressman to be able to do. And even I have to question his claim of having read the Obamacare bill "three times" in the limited time that it was even available in final form. At 2,700 pages, that would actually be 8,100 pages read, as the one questioner states. I would not personally have called Hare a liar to his face--that's just crass and not appropriate when you're trying to have an actual discussion--but I'd have loved to draw him out on that extremely unlikely claim a bit more.

But Hare loses the most points when he just up and walks out. Like it or not, Congressman, you work for those people and had an obligation to try to talk to them instead of sinking to their rather juvenile level and then going even lower.

If you ever need more proof that elections are important, or that we get the government that we deserve, you have only to watch people like Congressman Phil Hare in action. Granted, Illinois' 17th Congressional District appears to be heavily Gerrymandered, undoubtedly to ensure that a Democrat retains the seat, but it's still pathetic that out of that whole area, Hare was the most educated, conversant and diplomatic man that the Democrats and local voters could find for the job.

In sum, we got Obamacare because legislators like Hare are currently in the majority, and we have legislators like Hare because better people decline to run or are rejected by the apathetic and/or ignorant voters who actually show up on election day.

What's that you say? You didn't vote? Well then this mess is partly your fault, too. When smart people shirk their duty to vote, the dim bulbs who show up and the interests that push them to the polls get to decide who makes the laws and appoints the judges.

DC gun control law upheld while DC's gun-toting criminals roam free.

Ah, liberals and their never-ceasing desire to control the rest of us.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina, who sits in Washington DC, ruled that he city's onerous and overly-restrictive gun-control laws that the city passed to try to gut the 2008 Heller decision are somehow Constitutionally permitted. The judge ruled that the District's handgun registration process, which requires owners to submit fingerprints and allow police to perform ballistics tests, is constitutional. He also upheld a city ban on most semiautomatic pistols.

The city only allows residents to own revolvers--which must be registered with the police--and it requires that legally registered revolvers be kept unloaded and either disassembled or secured with trigger locks, unless the owner reasonably fears immediate harm by an intruder in the home. Each resident can register one pistol a month, and registrations expire after three years.

Urbina found that the new regulations were crafted to make the streets safer and aren't so restrictive that they violate the Second Amendment guarantee of a person's right to own a gun for self-defense. "It is beyond dispute that public safety is an important -- indeed, a compelling -- governmental interest," Urbina wrote.

Really? If that's the case, then why did that same government just give a thug who brought four guns into a public sports arena and used them to threaten and intimidate someone he was having a disagreement with a slap on the wrist? Why did the thug only get probation if public safety is really all that important in DC? Had it been you or I caught with even one gun on our person or in our vehicle, we'd be in jail there even if there was no underlying criminal issues as there was in this case.

But then again, you and I don't play basketball, so we probably wouldn't qualify for mere probation in lieu of jail.

It's not about public safety at all. It's about control. Safety comes from ensuring that law-abiding citizens cans protect themselves in those instances when the police aren't standing right next to them. Free citizens can protect themselves in most of this country, but in Washington DC, the only ones allowed to have and carry guns are the rich and powerful...and thug basketball players like Gilbert Arenas.

Moral of the story: If you can't dunk a basketball, you're on your own in Washington, DC when the criminals come around. And if you can dunk a basketball? Then you can actually be a criminal in Washington, DC.

Oh, and lest anyone doubt that elections have long-standing consequences, Judge Urbina was appointed to the bench in 1994 by then President Bill Clinton and he's been there ever since, handing down rulings like this one.

Still think your vote doesn't matter? It does, and so does a vote not cast, or one pissed away on some unelectable third-party candidate or fringe lunatic.

A busy and dishonorable weekend in Washington, DC

Remember when our representatives in Congress actually represented us and voted accordingly?

Well today, the majority of them, Democrats all, disregarded their constituents--the people who voted them into office expecting to be...well...represented--and voted for a massive new social program designed to take control of the entire health care industry and give free stuff to the lazy while billing the producers. They did this because Obama and Nancy Pelosi told them to, despite the polls indicating that a majority of the country--including a majority of their own constituents--didn't want it.

They ignored the phone calls and letters that they all admit getting, they ignored the in-person visits from their own district residents, and they ignored the protests of organized outraged Americans from across the country. In so doing, they showed us all that their loyalty is to their party leaders first and their own constituents second, if even that.

Hear that drum beating? I hear it.

Now our National Mall in Washington DC is under siege by thousands of illegal aliens and their supporters, mostly relatives who benefited from a previous amnesty or special interest groups that get money to represent these trespassers and provide them with social services, again with the bill passed on to American workers. They're denouncing our laws, defiling our national flags, and demanding--demanding--that our representatives give them amnesty and American citizenship, making them fully equal to the rest of us and giving them priority over every immigrant who is trying to gain citizenship according to our laws that govern the process. And many legislators are caving into them, Republican Lindsay Graham foremost among them, as is Obama.

That drum beat is growing louder. Hear it yet, Washington?

Now we see that ACORN--the group that has been implicated in or convicted of fraud in numerous states on behalf of the Democratic Party and Obama--is going to keep getting our tax dollars despite a law passed by our representatives to put a stop to it. In other words, let the corruption commence again.

That drumbeat's getting louder yet. And those are war drums. The People are growing angry--the workers, the ones who play by the rules. The corruption and the disregard for the will of the citizens who sent you fools to Washington has to stop. If the 535 of you on the Capitol don't quit it and rein in the Marxist in the White House, We--the People--are going to have to find a way to stop you.

After Scott Brown's absolute trouncing of Democrat Martha Coakley last night in the race for the Massachusetts Senate seat formerly held by Ted "the submariner" Kennedy, I have just three words for Barack Obama, for Ed Schultz, for Nancy Pelosi, for Harry Reid, and for the union members who were counting on Coakley to shore up the Dems' attempt to run this country on a totally partisan platform with no regard whatsoever for the desires and beliefs of the half of America who has a different vision:
