Don't cry for me, Smith and Wesson...

A friend that I invited to the range brought his gun. Not much of a shooter, he got ther gun for home defense from someone who owed him money. I saw it and thought I was going to be sick.

It's a Smith and Wesson 686 "pre-lock" that some Bubba decided had too many sharp edges, so he ground down the hammer...
He also removed the front sight with a grinder, then took it to the top strap after removing the adjustable sight base. Even filled in the notch where the old sight base used to set.
And this is how you turn a $1200 factory snub nose .357 Magnum revolver into a parts kit.
He also lightened the trigger, probably by cutting coils off the hammer spring, so that if misfires about 50% of the time. But hey--it's easy to draw from a pocket now, right?
Sigh...

From the "People never to take a class from" file.

I apologize for not posting about this six months ago when it happened, but I'd not heard about it somehow.

Tactical Response BANNED After Instructor Negligently Discharges Into Student’s Truck

There's a lot wrong here, starting with an instructor throwing his students' guns on the ground and stomping on them just to mess up their finishes. I think had James Yeager or one of his toadies thrown my H&K P7M13 on the ground and done this, or one of my 1911s, or even one of my Glocks, we'd both be going to the nearest hospital--him to get a prosthetic foot out of his ass and me to get my foot back.

But geez...the 'tard takes it to the extreme and does it with LOADED guns?

I was going to let it pass, but then I remembered this bit from the movie "The 'burbs", and it fit too well.

Stupid is supposed to hurt

Ah, those whacky Massholes. If you've ever wondered who keeps voting to elect multiple Kennedys, John Kerry, Barney Frank and Elizabeth "Fauxcahontas" Warren to high office in that state, I think you need to look no farther than this fugitive from a Darwin Award:

Salem, Massachusetts, Woman Falls 2 Stories Into Trash Compactor

A woman fell three stories into a trash compactor while trying to help a teenager retrieve his keys, according to police and local media.

The 38-year-old woman was paid $20 to assist after the keys fell down the apartment block's garbage chute in Salem, Massachusetts, police Lt. Brian Gillian told NBC News on Wednesday.

“"She was obviously in pain"”

The teen initially attempted to lower the woman down the chute from the third floor by holding onto her feet, Gillian said.

When this didn't work, the 19-year-old tied a sheet round the woman's legs and tried again. However, the sheet ripped and the woman plummeted down the chute into the trash compactor, Gillian added.

"When she fell into the trash compactor it activated," he said. "She suffered a serious leg injury. It was badly twisted and clearly broken."
...

In the South, they at least say "Here. Hold muh beer and watch this!" before doing something that dumb.

In Massachusetts though, they just quietly agree to be lowered headfirst into a trash compactor on a bed sheet "rope" for twenty dollars like it's something you do every day.

Yet another reason for not letting ANYONE from that state cast a ballot that can actually affect the rest of the country.

No wonder those people demand "free" health care so loudly.

An avalanche of CCW fail

In Pennsylvania last week, a man was shot to death in a church.

Apparently Robert Braxton III was sitting in seats reserved for other members, and when an usher tapped him on the shoulder to ask him to move, he got upset and yelled at the usher, telling him not to touch him. And this little blow-up sparked wanna-be TV action hero Mark Storms into action.

As the usher and the pastor spoke to Braxton and calmed him down, Storms, by all accounts, rushed up to them with a gun drawn, flashed a badge and ordered Braxton to leave the church.

The badge was one of those ones advertised on the internet that simply says "Concealed Weapons Permit Holder". They serve no purpose and are bought exclusively by idiots and morons.

Braxton apparently didn't care for being badged by a poser, because he reportedly told Storms what he could do with his "fake badge" and "fake gun". Then he punched Storms in the mouth.

Storms retaliated by shooting Braxton and killing him.

Gunman fatally shoots Pennsylvania churchgoer after fight over seat at Sunday service

Storms was rightfully arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. At his arraignment, Storms claimed that he was using his handgun in "self defense", and, apparently without talking to or heeding the advice of a lawyer, he told the police that he was hoping to defuse the situation by showing a gun, which, according to court documents, he's done in the past.

Sigh... it's people like this who mess it up for the rest of us CCW holders and responsible gun owners. The anti-gun crowd always tries to say that we do stuff like this, and even though we all know better, here comes some tosser to do exactly this sort of stupid thing.

So let us count the screw-ups in this case. Feel free to add any that I miss:

1. Storms buys a poser badge that carries no authority but merely identifies him as a concealed weapons permit holder. Why he feels that he needs a shield like real police and other officials carry is not known to me, but it appears that he's got a history of going around flashing it at people, no doubt hoping that it'll be mistaken for a real badge. Impersonating a police officer is both illegal and dangerous, and no one not a sworn Law Enforcement Officer needs to be carrying a badge around, especially a toy badge like this one.

2. Storms decided to butt into a verbal dispute that he wasn't even a party to. No one asked him to help, it was being handled by the appropriate people, and it wasn't his business.

3. Storms pulled his gun (and flashed his toy badge) to intimidate Braxton and get him to do what Storms--who had no authority to act--was ordering him to do.

4. Storms, with his gun out, was close enough to Braxton that Braxton could easily punch him in the face. Had Braxton gone for a disarm instead, he could probably have pulled it off, because Storms was way too close to react to the attempt.

5. While it's plausible to argue that you shot in self-defense in response to an attempt to disarm you, shooting someone for busting you in the lip is pretty much cut-and-dried retaliation. Storms life doesn't appear to have been in danger there; only his ego did.

6. I can't think of anything Storms could do to make this worse, unless...oh, wait--he could give statements to the police about how he was trying seize control of parties having a verbal disagreement by threatening them with his gun. Yeah, that could make it worse, as could having a history of having done this sort of thing before and not learning from those incidents.

All I can say now is that I hope that Storms likes jail food and diverse roommates, because I think that he's going to be getting his fill of both for a long, long time to come.

Floridiots and Alligators...always an amusing combination

So down Florida way, Mike Karris and his fiancee, Rae Wilkerson, went to the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge, apparently unclear as to what might actually live in a wildlife refuge in Florida. They brought their 11 year old Dachshund named Cody, aka "Box Lunch" with them, and they thought that it would be a good idea to let Cody run around off the leash in this wildlife refuge. By the water. In Forida.

Insert moment of silence for Cody here.

Alligator eats Cody the dachshund at a Florida wildlife refuge

Now Ray Charles could have seen that coming, but these two were shocked and surprised, and even mad at the wildlife refuge and it's staff for "letting" an alligator be around people and tasty little dogs.

Karris, an executive at a consulting firm, estimated that the predator must have crossed 10 feet of grass and gravel before reaching the boat ramp, grabbing the helpless dog and dragging it away in its maw.

The dog owner has acknowledged that it was his and Wilkerson's responsibility to keep Cody tied up, as park rules dictate, but he argued that it was not a good idea for the wildlife refuge to keep around an alligator that was that aggressive.

Hello? Wildlife refuge. Alligators are wildlife, last I checked. Little weiner dogs? Not so much. And leash laws like the ones in place at this wildlife refuge? Obviously those are for other people, not entitled liberal types like Karris and Wilkerson. Not sure what sort of business pays this guy to "consult" but they can't be getting their money's worth. He's clearly an idiot.

At least the refuge manager isn't bending over to kiss this fool's ass.
St Marks manager Terry Peacock noted that the park has removed alligators that were aggressive towards people in the past, but said that the reptile that ate Cody had never posed a safety risk before.

‘I can't punish an alligator for being an alligator,’ Peacock said. ‘That's just an alligator being its normal self.’

So what did Karris and Wilkerson do about this? Well for starters, they began calling news stations, trying to get their story printed. And they made sure to include plenty of cheery selfies, because, after all, this is really about them, and not Cody or hungry gators.
"Our dog got eaten because we were careless. So this is us, having a nice Jeep ride."

(You just know that Jeep has an Obama sticker on it somewhere...you just know it.)

It scares me that these two are actually getting married. Next thing you know, they'll start having kids. Let's hope that they do better with those than they did with that dog.

Destroying your career on Facebook and other "Stupid Lawyer Tricks".

So baby lawyer Leslie Anderson (Admitted to the NJ Bar in December, 2014.) Just taught herself a hard lesson by posting stupid comments on a news forum regarding the line-on-duty death of New Jersey State Trooper Anthony Raspa, who was killed May 30th when his cruiser struck a deer and went off the road into the woods.

As flags went to half-staff across the state, and as thousands of other law enforcement officers from across the country came together to mourn Trooper Raspa and support his family at his funeral, Leslie Anderson, Douchebaguette extraordinaire, was busy posting snarky comments on the news stories about the trooper, stating that his death was "Not that sad and certainly not 'tragic'". And she didn't stop there. When other commenters expressed sympathy for the trooper's family, Anderson replied: "I agree that it is sad and heart wrenching for the family members left to suffer the consequences of the Trooper's recklessness — especially for the deer family who lost a mommy or daddy or baby deer."

And it wasn't just those two posts. She went back and forth with mourners and critics of her posts at length, Saying such things as: "Only in America is this considered a tragedy," and "The outcry and ‘thank yous’ are absurd, nonsensical, and completely unwarranted. There are people in this country and around the world dying for much less. There is nothing ‘tragic’ about this. Get over yourselves and your sense of entitlement, people."

I don't even pretend to know what this nasty troll of a girl's problem is, but she has other problems now. It seems that her Facebook and other social media pages identified her as a law clerk to Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Travis Francis, and when the public outrage over her comments got back to the court, she was suspended with pay for two weeks pending an investigation. And subsequent to that, Leslie, for whatever reason, resigned from her job entirely.

My thought is that she was probably pressured to resign, and frankly I'm good with that. I agree with Chris Burgos, president of the New State Troopers Fraternal Association, who stated that Anderson, via her blatant display of hatred for Trooper Raspa here, cannot be trusted to perform as an impartial officer of the court. Damn straight, I say.

So as it stands now, Anderson's legal career just took a chop to the knees. Normally, a clerkship is a major resume enhancer and a stepping stone towards a high-paying job. But being forced to resign from one, especially in such a public manner...well that can't be good. Frankly, I don't see too many top-tier firms looking to court her onto their partner tracks now.

Of course, this being Obama's America, I'm sure that she'll soon be deluged with offers for various "community organizer" positions with countless left-wing groups. But hopefully this story, kept alive on the eternal internet, will at least keep her out of academic, government and public policy positions, at least until she grows up.

RIP, Trooper Raspa.

Rick Herbert and other anti-American fools who make me weep for my country.

Today's post is about those fools that have nothing better to do than stick a Go Pro camera in their car and go out to find some police officers to pester in an attempt to get famous on the internet. Usually they claim to be "patriotic" and insist that they are "fighting tyranny" or some such.

The one that caught my eye recently is this guy named Rick Herbert, who has apparently just discovered Border Patrol checkpoints despite the fact that we've had them in place since the mid-1970s without any effect at all on liberty or freedom. Here's a video of Rick, with his wife and kid along as props, heading into a Border Patrol checkpoint just to cause a scene. In his Youtube comments, he calls these his "law patrols", which suggests that he actually goes out loking for police officers to bother. But let's watch what happened when Rick took on the Border Patrol recently:

It's always interesting to see the double standards that these loons try to apply to police as well. In thie video, we see Herbert both insisting that he doesn't have to answer questions (which is actually true) and then stating that the officers have to answer all of his questions before he'll comply with their instructions.

To their credit, they don't take his bait. They repeat the instruction one time, then take it to the next level when it's clear that he heard them and refuses to comply.

Here's a newsflash for wanna-be street lawyers: The police don't have to explain jack to you. All that's required is that they have probable cause to detain you but they'll just have to be able to articulate what that is in court later and they don't have to tell you at the time. Now they may decide to tell you if time permits and you're not otherwise acting like a tool, but they don't owe you an explanation and if you refuse to comply with their lawful orders, then you risk the consequences of that, including being locked up, as our pal Rick Herbert was. I know that Herbert was hoping to see the officer lose his cool, but that didn't happen. And obviously the officer knew that any answer the officer gave would have just been followed up with more questions intended to prolong the encounter and provoke a reaction, so his response was appropriate and proper. He's not paid to stand there and get jerked around; he's got a job to do and he goes about handling Herbert firmly and efficiently with a minimum of force. My only critique was that he got hung up in Herbert's seatbelt and he let Herbert close the window on his arm, which could have led to him being dragged and Herbert getting lawfully and appropriately shot. But hey--no harm, no foul, right? Otherwise, they got him under control quickly and took care of business.

So what is this guy protesting, exactly? You might think that it's some sort of sinister government plot to take everyone's guns or snatch everyone's kids, but no, it's just a Border Patrol checkpoint. You know, one of those spots where they stop you, ask you and your passengers about your citizenship, and if you don't draw their suspicion, send you on your way in about five seconds. People in the southwest are used to these as we've had them for decades. And contrary to the internet "constitutional lawyers" that seem to be in abundance these days, these checkpoints ARE constitutional. The Supreme Court ruled on these in 1976 in United States v. Martinez-Fuerte, 428 U.S. 543 (1976). In that case, by a 7-2 decision, the Court looked at the conflict between the right of the individual to travel freely and the compelling government interest in detering and apprehending illegal immigration and drug smuggling. They concluded that the government interest was significant enough to justify the minimal intrusion that citizens were subjected to. And this opinion came from legal heavyweights such as Burger, Rehnquist, White, Stevens, Powell and Blackmun. These checkpoints have been around for over forty years and other than a bunch of smugglers, they have no actual effect on anyone. But these days, America's law-enforcement professionals are a ripe target for losers who want to feel empowered. Sorry, but I can't get on that wagon, since I know an awful lot of police officers and other public safety professionals and I consider most of them to be among the most selfless and professional people that I've ever met. They are the good guys, in my view. And they deserve our gratitude, not the crap that they're now getting from this current unholy coalition of the lunatic left, the radical fringe right, and the low-information crowd that sumps around going "Hands up, don't shoot"

And now just who exactly is Rick Herbert, you might ask?

Well according to his own Google and Youtube posting,

He's an unemployed former wal-Mart worker.

He's a pot-head. ("Super Skunk" is a marijuana strain.)

He's a crystal meth fan. (Like we couldn't tell from looking at him.)

And according to his own internet posts, it seems that he does little more than videotape himself as he provokes confrontations with the police or cheer on other losers who make similar videos. It's also telling that when I and others have posted questions asking him if the Border Patrol found any drugs in his car (remember that the dog alerted, and in the video, at 5:34, his wife seems to say "There's a bong right there" as she points to the area below the driver's seat), he refused to answer and the questions were removed from his feed.

Fortunately for those who wondered, his wife, in her own Youtube post, confirmed that there was marijuana in the car:
Kati Herbert 20 hours ago

They told him he was being charge, booked, and released. Then told Photography is not a crime that he was released with no charges. They told him that the marijuana leave they said they found under the drivers seat, was enough to charge him for possession. They threatened to seize my car also...

So yeah, I'm satisfied that the dog did alert to the presence of narcotics, and that right there is probable cause for a search of the car per our Supreme Court. Florida v. Harris, 568 U.S. ___ (2013).

Folks, even if we don't always care for everything that our government may or may not do, I submit to you that this guy is not the one that we want to get behind and hold up as our standard-bearer. While I can and have sympathized with people who, through no fault of their own, get caught up by some over-zealous government officials, I'm not about to stand in solidarity with some useless drug-user who spends his days driving around with his child in tow trying to bait the cops for Youtube fame instead of working at some job to support his family.

I'll almost always support decent hard-working Americans who get jammed up by Big Brother, especially veterans, but very few of these cop-hating internet jackwagons fit that description. Most of these perpetually angry losers tend to blather on incessantly about how they're great Americans and the rest of us are "sheeple", yet they never seem to find their way into uniform despite us fighting two wars in which tens of thousands of actual patriotic Americans enlisted and served. Ironically, a majority of these Border Patrol Agents are likely to be honorably discharged veterans these days, but the radical fringe that claims to support our vets now often targets them specifically as enemies of our nation even though these vets have already given more to our country than a hundred Rick Herberts or Shawn Dixons or Adam Kokeshes ever will. So you'll forgive me if I don't rush out and hit this guy's new crowdfunding website where he begs for money even though he wasn't even criminally charged and has no legal expenses. But I can understand why he's panhandling for cash: Meth is really getting expensive.

Another whack-job makes things tougher for normal gun owners

This time it was in Michigan where a self-described open-carry advocate decided to tote a pistol and a long gun right up to the door of a local school while classes were in session.

Area Thrown Into Panic When Man Exercises Right To Carry Weapon Near Madison Heights School

To sum it up, police responded to numerous 911 calls of an openly armed man approaching a school in Madison Heights, Michigan. They responded quickly, and found out that it wasn't another would-be school shooter this time, but merely some jack-ass who apparently decided to provoke a response by walking up to the school with two guns plainly visible for all to see.

In the end, no one got shot and no one went to jail or even got a ticket. The police handled this incident professionally by investigating it, determining that no crime was being committed and diffusing the situation, then sending the nut on his way. (Kudos, Madison Heights PD!)

But what do we have now? That's right--more news stories that make the rest of us gun owners look like nuts, and more incentive for anti-gun legislators to pass more restrictions on us all or at least refuse to relax the ones already in place. All that, just so that this guy (name will be posted when I learn it) could get his fifteen seconds of fame.

About the only good thing that I can say is that at least this time, it was not that serial police-baiter and all-around ass-monkey Kory Watkins from Texas, who, under the guise of supporting gun rights by acting like an obnoxious douche-bag, has been making a full-time job out of getting businesses in that area to ban anyone from carrying firearms on their premises while generating more negative gun press than Shannon Watts and her fake Bloomberg-supported Moms Demand Action gun-control lobby could ever hope to create.

And I'm still not convinced that Watkins and his minions aren't secretly working for Bloomberg and Watts...wouldn't be the first time that our enemies have pretended to be us just to undermine us.

As usual, just when things start looking good for us gun-folk across the states, we take rounds in the back from our own side via this Madison Heights moron and others in that radical .001% fringe who just have to act like donkeys for no good reason "because they have rights".

"Help" like that we can all do without.

Edited to add: Apparently this particular jack-ass has done this sort of thing before. From another source:
Police received “about a million 911 calls” as he man approached the school driveway, Madison Heights Police Officer Carey Spangler told The Detroit News.

Police determined the man wasn’t a threat, and charges are not expected.

“We had a citizen exercise his right to open carry, and he chose to exercise that right near the high school,” Spangler said. “He has since moved away from the area.”

Police kept the man under surveillance as he walked the approximately 2½ -mile trip back to Royal Oak.

“We’ve dealt with this individual in the past,” Spangler said. “We know of him to exercise his right to open carry.”

When Open Carry is barred by statute or when new restrictions on where all gun owners can carry are enacted, Michigan gun owners will have this guy and a few others like him to thank...hopefully with a baseball bat.

More on the moron who got herself locked in the gun safe.

Just a follow-up on Rachel Mitchell of Germantown, MD, the loserette who had to be cut out of a gun safe at Tractor Supply Co. in Somerset, PA last Saturday.

I did some looking to see what I could find on this MENSA candidate, and a quick search brought up a chick who holds herself out as a "Cocktail Waitress/Promo Model" (whatever that is.)

The girl in the pictures making duckface after duckface looks pretty vacuous, but I couldn't be sure that it was "safe girl" and I didn't want to point the finger at the wrong person. But today, on her Facebook page where she goes by the name "soccerchixs18" (linked from her previous bio page), she is asking is anyone knows of a good Pennsylvania attorney for a civil suit.

Yeah, it's her.

And she has a Twitter account, too. It's called "soccerchixs18" as well. And on this page, when not posting pictures of her three-year old daughter holding up breast implants at the cosmetic surgery office where she works/worked, she publicly follows the Kardashian sisters and several other attention whores who are famous basically just for making sex tapes and "accidentally" releasing them. This whole thing makes me wonder if Rachel Mitchell, aka: "safegirl" did not pull this stunt on purpose just to get fifteen minutes of fame, some media exposure and a bag of lawsuit cash.

I'm thinking that this one needs to be watched.

EDITED TO ADD: As of Feb 13th, Rachel must have seen or heard about this post because her shiftgig and twitter accounts have been taken down and her facebook page has been cleared of numerous poor-taste pictures and any mention of her planned lawsuit.

She's still a twit who deserves to be punched in the face though, just for being so stupid and narcissistic.

Dumb Woman Gets Herself Locked In Store's Gun Safe.

In Pennsylvania, the gene pool almost got a bit clearer yesterday as a woman let her kids lock her inside a gun safe on display at a local Tractor Supply Co. store.

Woman rescued after locked in gun safe

And this is why stores can't leave gun safes open for the grown-ups to look at.

Here we have a store that caters to the self-reliant farm types, and some airhead ambles in with a few of her children and proceeds to "play a game" in this store that ends with her being locked in one of the store's display safes, necessitating the fire department to respond and cut her out.

OK, partial blame to the store for not having the combination of that safe on hand, but still...

Now the store is out an expensive safe (those fireproof ones aren't cheap) and Lurline or whatever her name is is probably burning up the free minutes on her Obamaphone trying to find a cheap lawyer willing to step forward and fill her pockets with more of that store's cash. And meanwhile, the rest of us who actually shop for gun safes have to learn to be content to just see the outside of them in stores or look at their interiors in catalog pictures, because stupid people like this one cause stores to rethink their policies of just leaving the safes open so actual safe customers can see them.

OH--this news story has a bit more about it:

Woman rescued from safe at Tractor Supply Co.

It seems that the dim-bulb who caused this mess was 33 year old Rachel Mitchell of Germantown, Maryland. (A Marylander...figures.)

It also explains that the battery on the store's combination lock was dead, but rather than change the battery, a store employee pried the lock off with a prybar, basically making it impossible to open. So apparently this store not only allows stupid people to shop there, it hires a few, too.

Some people just need to be punched in the face by court order.

No, this post isn't about Kaci Hickox, the attention-seeking "nurse" and Typhoid Mary imitator who refuses to avoid any chance of infecting others with Ebola since coming back from Africa. Yes, her constant whining and serial press conferences and her veiled insinuations that any attempt to quarantine her is merely a Republican plot definitely warrants a public face-punching but I suspect that Karma will come back around in the form of countless rejected job applications since Americans in general don't care for someone who fights hard for the right to spread diseases to the rest of us.

No, this post is about a little spoiled princess from New York named Casey Nocket.

Little Miss Nocket, age 21, spent some of daddy's money on a vacation out west. Miss Nocket, whose life ambition is to be a graffiti "artist" (more commonly known as a "vandal" anywhere outside of a few big blighted cities), traveled around the west, painting graffiti on rock formations in at least eight national parks, including Yosemite National Park, Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado National Monument, Crater Lake National Park, and Zion National Park and Canyonlands National Park. (It also looks like she hit Sequoia National Park and the Grand Canyon, too now, but that still hasn't been officially confirmed.) These parks in California, Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Colorado (see map of defacement here) are some of the most scenic public lands in America, but to this punk, they were just canvases where she could whip out her paint set and draw lame pictures, complete with her personal tagline, "Creepytings". Owing to the remoteness of and the distance between the places that she vandalized, it took some time before the nature community realized the extent of the defacement and traced it back to Casey the suburban whitebread wanna-be hood-rat from New York. Of course once they began talking about her and contacting her directly, she took to her social media accounts to mock and taunt anyone who was upset by her actions. She responded to her critics by saying that "it's art, not vandalism" because she is an "artist". Even worse, her mother and others around her took to the internet to applaud Casey for her "creativity".

Folks, this is why New Yorkers (with a few exceptions) are about as welcome in real America as Kaci Hickox would be at a daycare center. But I digress...

Finally, the National Park Service Law Enforcement got involved, and they are presently investigating and compiling estimates of the cost to properly remove the paint from the rocks. The case is reportedly being brought to the US Attorney for criminal charges, to the applause of practically everyone in America save Nocket, her family, and a few other graffiti punks. Naturally, once that word got out, Nocket's relatives have begun explaining that she now has "considerable remorse" for her actions. My guess? The remorse is only that she has been publicly outed and now faces the prospect of prison time, especially if the government charges these acts as felony vandalism, which I hope that they do. A clue as to the sincerity of her remorse could of course be divined from one of her last social media posts before she took her tumblr account down. In that post, she laughed about how she's going to change the focus of her "art" from scrawling on national monuments to defacing tombstones in cemeteries because they'll supposedly still get her publicity without landing her in as much trouble.

21 years old, jobless, and traveling the country wrecking other peoples' things just for the attention. Yeah, she deserves to be punched in the face on live TV on behalf of America, and her parents need to be right up there next to her getting punched as well.

Better yet, maybe she should be locked up in a shipping crate with Kaci Hickox. Then we could send the crate one-way to Liberia and be done with both of them.

So I'm driving into work this morning...

and I'm pissed, because I got a late start. Now I made most of the lost time up through "creative driving", but then I wound up hitting the drive-through coffee spot half a second behind some jerkwater in a minivan who placed an order and then pulled up to the pick-up window and just sat there, waiting, for SIX MINUTES! Now I and others behind me are also forced to wait due to the high curbs that prevent us from just chucking our orders and driving away, so all I can do is curse and beam hate-waves at this guy for SIX MINUTES while I wait for a FREAKING CUP OF COFFEE, all because this ass-monkey ordered a bag of breakfast sandwiches and INSISTED that they be made fresh, according the trained food-hander-outer at the window.

Now I'm pissed at this guy for being such a thoughtless jackass when he could have just as easily parked and gone inside to wait on this order, but I'm also cheesed at the lazy slobs at the drive-thru who couldn't be bothered to tell this chowderhead to pull ahead fifteen feet and let the rest of us get our simple orders and be gone. I mean, God forbid that "Double-wide Bertha" at the window actually have to walk this guy's sack of sandwiches out to him...far better that me and everyone else in line line sit and cool our heels, because hey--we're only on the way to our jobs, right? So what if we're late?

And yeah, when I got to work, I looked up the drive-thru and hit both their website and their corporate site with a complaint only slightly less strong than this one. Bad customer service exists because too many people are willing to take it. And tomorrow, I'll get my coffee at the gas station across the street.

Breath.

Another breath.

Better now.

Anyway, just a bit later, I'm getting texted at 5AM by my mother, who is just getting to bed after a night spend clubbing reading Old NFO's first book "The Grey Man--Vignettes", which I sent her on Kindle yesterday. (It's on special this week, so check it out.) She apparently could not put it down and stayed up all night reading it. She said that she hasn't read a book that good in a long time and begged for anything else that he writes.

Well, coincidentally, he did write another one, and it's just now out: The Grey Man--Payback. And her new Kindle copy is enroute to her as I type this. And my hard-copy version is on it's way here to complement my copy of the first book (which I seem to have misplaced...)

Anyway...Buy this book.

If you bring your copies to next month's blogshoot in eastern West Virginia, I suspect that the author will sign them.

Sometimes fate brings two idiots together.

And in cases like this, where one of the idiots has a gun, things have a tendency to turn very bad indeed.

Michigan Man charged with muder in apparent road rage shooting.

To sum it up, two idiots joust with each other in traffic. One finally passes the other and it seems to be over, but then at the next red light, the second idiot pulls up behind the first one, gets out of his car, and storms up to the driver's side of the first idiot's truck, at which time first idiot shoots second idiot in the face, killing him. First idiot, who had a CCW permit, claims "self defense", but self defense requires a good-faith belief of immminent serious bodily harm or death AND "clean hands", meaning that you cannot have provoked your alleged attacker or otherwise contributed to the affray.

As it stands now, first idiot, a 69 year old man name Martin Zale, is facing murder charges, and the second idiot, 43 year old Derek Flemming...well he's dead and his family is out doing sob stories about how his daughter will have to grow up without a father now as they beat the drum for a Gofundme account to raise money for his funeral or a party or whatever. But I won't be contributing, because Derek Flemming wasn't a victim here. He was a wanna-be tough guy who decided to run up on some old man that he didn't know in a fit of rage and it was just his dumb luck that the old man that he ran up on had a gun and an impulse-control problem of his own. Flemming, in his fit of ego-driven anger, pretty much killed himself and it's as much his fault that his daughter has to celebrate her birthday without him there as it is Zale's. There were no winners here, only two losers, and the only real victims are Flemming's children and the vast majority of law-abiding gun owners who are now being tarred with the dirty brush in the media even though they know better than to engage in road rage incidents or whip their pistols out to get them out of trouble that their own poor judgement got them into. Zale knew or should have known better at his age, especially after taking the required coursework for a Michigan CCW that includes a lecture on self-defense and the law, and Flemming was also old enough to know better than to jump out of a car and challenge perfect strangers to a fight.

And I know that all of you reading this, many of you CCW holders yourselves, are mature enough to avoid getting into situations like this, so pass this lesson along to anyone else you know who might be considering a CCW. Let them know that one bit of bad judgement combined with a firearm concelaed or openly carried can and will destroy one or several lives. But then again, I'm pretty much preaching to the choir as, despite isolated incidents like the one above, people with concealed weapons permits are more law-abiding and much less likely to be arrested for violent or nonviolent crimes than the general population as a whole.

Open Carry Texas demonstrates why THEY are not qualified to carry rifles in public places.

From one of their own pictures, taken back in October when they went on one of their chest-thumping, attention-seeking forays at a local Smashburger restaurant.

Now aside from the fact that about half of those unattended long guns appear to be "leaning with intent to fall", A zoom on the AR to the far left, closest to the bald bozo in the Cabela's shirt, reveals that the safety selector is vertical to the rifle, meaning that it's set to FIRE. Two of the other ARs have their safeties obstructed by slings or camera angle, but I'm willing to bet that at least one of them has it's safety disengaged, too; that's just the sort of half-assed idiots that these half-assed idiots are. That safety violation would get a shooter DQ'd (disqualified) at many professional shooting events and even tossed off the range at some places where people who take shooting and gun safety seriously practice. Open Carry Texas claims that they want people to feel comfortable with other people carrying long guns around them but based on this display alone, I'd have a hard time feeling comfortable with anyone from their group carrying a firearm of any sort around me.

These clowns have to be paid anti-gunners trying to discredit the rest of us...they just have to be.

When good cars go bad.

Seen in Washington DC this week. Proof that with enough money and bad taste, you can even ghetto up an ex-police car.
And why not take a car that was once tuned for performance and totally negate that with hoopti rims? Configured like that, this car would have trouble getting out of it's own way; speed, cornering and braking went out the window and one good bump and those tires'll bottom our in the fender wells. And those stupid rims and tires probably cost more than the doofus driving it paid for the whole car at auction in the first place.

I'd be inclined to just shake my head and write it off to the local idiot culture in DC, but as Tam proved with this post, they got 'em in Indy, too.

For once, I side with the Russians.

So, a couple of weeks ago, those annoying self-appointed do-gooders known as Greenpeace got tired of bothering Americans and other industrialized European or Asian governments and businesses and decided to go board a Russian oil rig in Russian waters to get the attention that their parents never gave them as a form of protest. They actually hung off the side of the Russian platform for several hours despite efforts of the Russian crew to get them to leave, but finally the Russian crew captured two and drove the rest of them off.

No surprises here. This is what the Greenpests do. They bother people and disrupt things and then go around telling everyone what a great thing they've done. But this time, they messed with the wrong country. No sooner had they sailed away and began congratulating themselves then the Russian Coast Guard popped up and boarded their ship, taking it and all of them into custody.

Whoops!

Now the 30 Greenpests find themselves incarcerated in Russian jails awaiting trial after having been charged criminally, and now reality is sinking in on these poor, sheltered first-world wanna-be crusaders.

Greenpeace crew in 'shock' in Russian jails

So 30 special snowflakes are just now figuring out that jail isn't a fun place to be, particularly Russian jail.

"Many of them are in a state close to shock ... They had never expected that they would face such consequences for their peaceful protest in a democratic state."
Yeah, because whoever thought that the Russians would ever do anything harsher than give them a scolding and send them home after a snack of cookies and warm milk?

The foreign detainees are struggling to make themselves understood since virtually none of the prison staff speaks English."
Hmmmm. Sounds to me like an expected risk of getting locked up in a nation where a language other than English is spoken.

Several of the foreign nationals have been placed in cells with Russians. A Polish activist is sharing a cell with four Russians, while one of the British activists has two Russian cellmates, both accused of robbery.
Who did they expect to be imprisoned with? The Moscow University Glee Club?

Several non-smoking activists also complain of being placed in cells with chain-smokers.
Again: it's prison. In Russia. They smoke there and everyone knows it. So why the pretense of surprise and/or outrage?

Greenpeace spokesman Aaron Gray-Block said in e-mailed comments that several of the detained activists "need prescription medication".

"A number of others are taking over the counter medications such as paracetamol for problems such as mild arthritis and back pain," he said.
While I'm sure that most of Mommy's little snowflakes are on trendy ADHD drugs, I find it hard to believe that all of these twenty- and thirty-somethings who were all set to scale oil rigs just days ago are now semi-invalid cripples. However, I'm sure that if they have legitimate medical needs, even the Russians will give them basic care. But they really shouldn't expect too much more by way of luxury.
A young Finnish female activist is a vegan and unable to eat prison food, Paikacheva said, adding that prison officials had denied her request for vitamins to be delivered to her.
Actually she probably can eat the prison food. At present she just doesn't want to. I'm suspecting that this will change when she gets hungry enough.

"Our activists have been charged with a crime that did not happen. They are accused of an imaginary offense," Greenpeace International Executive Director Kumi Naidoo said Thursday.
Yeah, but they're being held in very real jail cells, and that kind of trumps any rhetoric now, doesn't it?

Maybe the rest of the Greenpests will remember this the next time that they decide to go attention-whoring, and they'll stick to bothering American corporations that won't do anything to them, or maybe those nice Israelis.

OK, maybe not them. They don't seem terribly soft and cuddly, either.

Kill your kid and get paid? Elizabeth Derkosh is trying.

Anyone remember Elizabeth Derkosh, the half-wit who propped her two year old son up on the edge of a wild dog pen at the Pittsburgh Zoo and then accidentally dropped him in? Well as it turns out, she' now trying to sue the zoo for a big bag of cash, claiming that somehow the zoo is responsible for her blatant act of stupidity and should pay her money for it.

Mother of a toddler fatally mauled by African dogs is to blame and shouldn’t be allowed to sue: zoo

Sorry, but the only stupid thing that the zoo did here was let her buy a ticket that day. I agree with the zoo 100% in that when someone does something so unbelievably careless or stupid as to shock the conscience of every reasonable person in the world, they should be cut off from suing others, especially others who were not unbelievably stupid or careless. All the zoo did here was provide a place where people could visit and watch exotic animals. They provided an enclosure for said animals that was designed to keep people of average intelligence out, and it's really not reasonable to anticipate that some idiot would plunk her toddler down on the edge of the enclosure and then lose her grip on the kid. The zoo did their part, and according to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums that certifies and accredits zoos, their enclosures exceed the required safety standards. Clearly though, if you try to make something idiot-proof, a better idiot will always show up. Derkosh is proof of this theory and should not get paid a cent. Her and her husband are seeking a jury trial on this issue though. I'm so bugged about it that I may just move to Pittsburgh for no reason other than to get into the jury pool. Not surprisingly, I'm backing the zoo. It's my opinion that she is solely to blame here and should not be allowed to profit from her negligence. I also think that her sleazy ambulance-chasing lawyer, Robert Mongeluzzi, should be sanctioned and kicked in the junk for even thinking about bringing this suit. And if Derkosh has any more kids, I sincerely hope that she never takes them to Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon.

Baltimore man shot for taking Joe Biden's advice.

I said, 'Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here ... walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.’ …
Joe Biden, February, 2013.

Taking bad advice from stupid people often has consequences:

Navy Veteran Shot & Wounded By Police While Testing Shotgun In Backyard
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A 24-year-old Navy veteran is in intensive care after being shot by city police Thursday night. His family tells WJZ that he was testing out a shotgun after being the victim of a home invasion.

Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired Thursday night outside a home in the 8700-block of Danville Avenue.

“The went to the rear of the location to investigate. They encountered an individual that was armed with a shotgun. During the course of that encounter, one of our officers discharged, striking the suspect,” said Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, police spokesman.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I wonder how long it'll take Joe Biden to show up and offer to pay this guy's medical bills.

Ya just gotta tell some people everything...

Because decorum and respect are becoming bygone concepts these days.

I have been at The Tomb many times and I have witnessed this sort of crass behavior from loud-mouthed louts camera-festooned morons. Sadly, it's all too common, and it's on the INCREASE per the Tomb Guards that I have had the honor of speaking with.

Just when you thought people couldn't get stupider...

Seriously?

Person with grenade walks into Detroit police station, says, 'Look what I found'

Detroit — Officials evacuated the Detroit Police Department's Eastern District building after a person walked in the building with a grenade on Friday.

The person entered the building with the explosive device and told officers: "Look what I found," according to Detroit Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens.

Officials summoned the bomb squad to the building.

At least now we know what Obama supporters do in their spare time.
